I've noticed that my Z's engine bay and intake runners seem to get excessively hot when I run the car hard. I know this is probably normal but my engine bay stays hot for at least 20-30 minutes ( alot hotter than my Z32, or other cars I've run hard) Does this only happen to me or is this par for the Z?

its weird that you say that, I didnt even think of that, but mine does the same. it will start back up like 2 hours after I leave it for class and still be near full temp. its nice for heat.
tho its bad for doing engine work, I installed the grounding kit and ouch, kept touching the top of the manifold. after like 3 hours it was still noticably warm, even with hood open.

Hey guys...
While on the subject of HOT... I noticed the underside hood of the Z has no insulation. Isn't that strange? I've never noticed this on any other car. Why do you think theres no insulation... esp since the engine area gets really hot, isnt it necessary??

that insulation would only keep heat in... couldnt imagine it being hotter outside than inside the bay.
the main purpose of it tho I think is for sound proofing. which they skipped in places where a sports car should be heard. the doors still have a "thud" sound, but you want to hear the engine and exhaust.
