Thumbs down New 350Z commercial

I just saw a 350Z commercial with various colors of Z's driving around... that part's OK... but the background music is some guy picking a guitar and singing that "let's go driving in my car, car..." making varoom varoom noises with his mouth.....

You'd think Nissan could come up with a better image commercial for the Z. Something with a more badass image like: http://genji.us/zrocks.mp3
(borrowed from a popular PC game...)

Default agree 100%

Just listening to the motor without music would have been better

just a thought, but most of the people buying this type of car(this is from my personal observation) are adults ( 25-40 ). not to be rude, but some people think that techno crap sucks and doesnt send out a good vibe to some consumers. thats just a thought. i think the point of advertising is to get the majority of people to enjoy the commercial and not feel like they are at a rave trippin on something

Good point, Eric

Nissan doesn't want to attract the 17 year old head banger who gets a hard on from the Lancer EVO or a Honda Civic with the jumbo spoiler and loud exhaust.

IMO....These cars are for the 17 year old "Fast and Furious" crowd...You know the ones...They work 3 jobs (Pizza delivery boy, Gas station attendant, and McDonalds Drive thru cashier) and spend their entire paychecks to mod the 1991 Honda Civics that Mommy and Daddy gave them.

The Lancer EVO may be Fast, but it's Hella Ugly, dude....The only decent looking Mitsu IMO is the Eclipse...and NOT the 2006 Eclipse, they truly f*cked up the redesigned model AND made it WAAAY too heavy, BUT then again, it NEVER was a sportscar anyway, just a SPORTS COUPE...GOOD JOB MITSU!

i really think they should use metal in a z commercial - maybe metalica (fuel or wherever i may roam).

Excellent point! Toyota is gunning for the same kids (and yes I mean KIDS) who mod up the Civics and have wet dreams about owning a Lancer EVO one day....LOL

I STILL can't believe Toyota ditched the Celica and MR2, so that they could focus more resources on the Scion brand...WTF is up with THAT! Well...At least they will be bringing back the Supra.

I don't see that many Scion brands on the road....Maybe Toyota screwed up with that BS brand.

I really enjoyed that commercial. It is unique. I would have hated it if they used some rap song or techno music.

I prefer the Commercial without music, with someone saying something like
1. Imagine being able to pass the rest of the crowd (engine revs)
2. Imagine being the only one in the block with a nice car (engine revs)
3. Imagine being able to drive the person you liked (engine revs)-hot girl inside
4. The words Shift.Passion.Innovation show up in big words (long Rev-car takes off)

My Opinion

Well, I was thinking I was getting old at 50... but you guys seem a bit domesticated.
(no offense intended) How old are you guys???

My co-workers accuse me of buying a mid-life crisis car. I guess it might look/sound a mite strange to see me (in my glorious platinum head of hair) slide into the parking lot with some *** thumping music clearly audible from without the closed windows!

My mental image of the Z is certainly the best looking sports car for the price out there. I just don't think that the little kid's song they used fits that image. Even my Japanese wife said ... "Yuck!!!"

Dude, I own a 350z, and I love it (almost too much...live and die Nissan), but I can appreciate the lines of the EVO and it's performance. Just because I own a Z, it ain't going to skew my view of other cars. What's funny is that awhile ago, someone was offering to trade their Z for an Evo, and there was a bunch of guys biting at the chance. Hell, I wouldn't mind getting one myself.

Now speaking of "Sports Cars" and "Sports Coupes," many consider the Z a quasi Sports car because of the weight. I'd consider the Evo more of a sports car, even though it's a Sedan.

BTW, what's wrong with working 3 jobs to get the car you want? What's wrong with ricing your car if that's what you want to do?
