For the record, BMW's are now some of the cheapest cars to maintain due to their new maintenance policies.
Every BMW is now covered up to 4 years or 50,000 miles I believe. They cover EVERYTHING..
So yea if you are going to keep the BMW for ever, and past the free maintenance period it could become expensive. However, if you sell it when that period is about to expire, it will cost no more to maintain then say a Kia Rio.
My mom has a bimmer and has never had to do anything to it, they even pay for the oil changes.

Yes, I did it myself. It took about an hour per side. I soldered the leads and used shrink tubing to make sure the wired connections would not corrode or come apart after a few years. I did have to put a little black silicone sealer on the bottom edge of the rings because a bit of the light was making it past the foam that they provided. It wasn't bad I am just a perfectionist. I used a dab on the lower edge and wiped off the excess. Came out really nice. Now the light only glows on the ring and there is no reflection on the body side.
Well worth the $59 I paid for them off ebay. I have seen them as high as $139 a set. I can't seem to find any on ebay or through vendors right now.
But, they are out there.... Mine came from Korea, I think, and they were here within 4 days.

^^ you are right about the warranty, it won't cost me anything but gas if i get the z4. How much does the average Z owner pay to maintain a 350z yearly?

Hey I love the Z, I'm glad you like it, it's always great to have someone on our team. But you should test drive the Z4 regardless. If you and the Z are meant to be, driving the Z4 should only solidify your decision. But check out both cars...if not for you, then for me. I'd have told you the same even if you had decided on a Z4.

I already test driven both cars. I was going to drive them back to back tomorrow and get the better drive. But this would only be the case if everything else was completely balanced. I looked into the new interiors of the 06's with nav and that did it for me.

I love my Z since I bought it couple weeks ago. But comparing a Z to a Z4, it's like comparing an EVO to a Z. Yes, an EVO is faster, AWD, better handling, etc...I personally owned a DSM (Mitsu Eclipse with the same engine EVO has) so I know it's fast, can be very very fast. But driving in an EVO, you're just fast, you don't turn heads like driving in a Z. And for most people who don't know about performance of these cars, they think EVO is a $15k sedan. Well this is a rather extreme example. Nonetheless, Z4 is a higher class car, not necessarily faster. So given the same amt of payment, I'll pick the Z4. Just my 2c.

i have to say good choice, to tell you the truth i still go out side every morning look at my car and say wow i love this car. As soon as that stops u'll get bitten by the bug, then the fun begins all over again. Another bonus is i think there are alot less Z on the road so u'll have the unique factor on your side as well, i dont know if thats important to you.

Nissan told me that i have to wait another two weeks for the 350z. Being impatient as i am, i decided to look at other cars. And i'm sorry to inform everyone that i will be departing the forums. No i did not go for the BMW z4, but i decided to go for a 2006 Mercedes SLK 350. Should have it by tuesday. Will miss the forums, too bad there isn't one like this for the slk. Ciao.
