I notice my oil pressure gauge was hitting 12psi this morning. I thought it was due to the cold weather, took the z out this afternoon and same thing.

Is this normal for the oil pressure gauge to reach 12psi? I wasn't driving hard when I noticed it. Underk 4k rpm from 1st to 4th gears.

 

When you first started the Z up, was the oil psi somewhere around 70-90psi? Or was it at about 12 on startup?

When I first start my car it is usually at 90 psi in the morning ('cause the engine's cold) then when it warms up it generally sits at just under 30 psi.

Either way, definitely check your oil level, you may very well be low on oil!

for every 1,000 RPM = 10 PSI...give or take..im not exactly sure wuts the spec's for VQ motor but it should be around there...if someone has the spec's i can do my cacluations..trust me i graduated M.E. Degree and when to 3 years of Automotive trade school.

 

12psi is low, even for full temperature at idle, there was quite an extensive thread about this a while back. I think most people are in the 20-30psi range (1.4-2 BAR)

Could just be a little low on oil as stated, or the old is too thined out

 

Am normally idle at 30psi range and cruise close to 60psi.
During cold weather I can idle close to 60psi and cruise slighty higher til the oil heats up
I have never seen any car running with just 12psi.
I would find and correct the reason behind this

That's what mine does, I think in the summer it starts at 60 and moves to 30.

 

This morning it was about 30F and I was close to 90psi for a short time til my temp needle started to mark and then pressure moved to 60

i was like WTF and i called the dealer
and they were like...
"Ugh..."

 

I live in Florida I have notice lately it is below the first bar so below 30 in the morning it goes to about 70 then right back to below 30. I am also experiencing lower than 700rpm idle.

Any thoughts I am going to change the oil tomorrow and see what happens.
Also when I sit at the light then rev the engine the RPMS go all the way down to 200 and sounds like it wants to stall.

Need some input please!!
