Default Kneepads

You know that pad on the side of the center console that supposed to prevent the side of your knees from banging up against the console....well...does anyone's knees actually hit that? I mean the seat holds me in pretty well and I've taken a few curves and turns generating some decent G's, but my knees have never hit that pad. Just checking if its actually useful or just design.

I have a 03 so dont have em, but I always wondered what kind of deformed legs would one need to find the pads of any use.

The 05 pads from what I remember are more substantial than the 06 pads. My knees more or less rest directly or partially on them, but for normal driving, I don't think it makes a difference.

I find the kneepads are more useful during canyon runs or on the track when you're trying to brace yourself.

To touch the pad with your knee you would have to be short. Very short.

Can someone post a pic of these? I have no idea what you all are talking about. I'm guessing they aren't on the '04s?

I drive a 2004 and have knee pads. I believe that the change was made during the production year.

I'm 6'3, but I'm pretty sure my knee hits....or maybe it's more of my shin, not sure.

Default Knee pads

I think they were added to protect from heat, not for comfort. Still, I'm 6' and my knees don't come close. Maybe they benefit a passenger more?

I'm 5'10" and my knees have never come near them. With the side bolsters on the seats and the wedge in the middle of the seat my legs stay pretty much straight.

Must be. I'm 6'2", 180lbs and have an '03. I thought about adding the pads (just keeping up with the changes), but when sitting in the car, I have to bend my leg in a severly unatural position and hard against the bolsters to even come close to touching where the pads would be, let alone touch them. I take some hard corners and my legs have never hit anywhere in the car, so they're utterly useless IMO. Even if I'm just cruising on the highway and let my leg fall to the side, the seat bolster holds it well away from the console area.

Never touched mine, no matter how hard I drive. I might if there is a pillow there.

My knees are nowhere near them either.
I think they were added for accidents, now that we have airbags up the wazoo the only things left unprotected are the knees and the consumer groups are going after that next.

Posting your hight is useless, my boss and I are the same hight and his legs are at least 4" shorter than mine. Everybody is build different.
