Default Cracked Windshield- Replace?

I got a small rock chip in my windshield Friday during a cruise after I spent 6hours detailing my car and now I come back to the car and its grown to a 7" crack and likely will continue to get worst. with cold night and hot days around here

So am going to replace the windshield but I dont know if I should go to Nissan or goto a place that deals with auto glass and have them do it, Also is there brands of windshield glass that are better then others or do I demand OEM glass.

Anyone have experiance with glass replacement I want it look like it was never replaced and not have to worry about it popping out if the airbags go off I know they use the windshield to direct the airbag and heard that poor replacement glass pops out instead of staying in to help the airbags

I would suspect that your dealer is just going to send your car to a glass place anyway. Few if any dealers have this service in-house. Contact your insurance and ask them where to take it, since the damage should be covered by them anyway.

Specify OEM replacement or similar quality when you talk to them. All replacement glass has to meet federal safey standards.

yeah this happenned to me a couple months ago too, i took it to nissan and they said they were going to have to make an appointment for me to go with another company that they always use. Definately ask your insurance though first. I didn't and it became a bigger mess to get the payments straightened out then it was worth.

Cruise, what cruise? Yeah, it happened to me 3 days after I got my Z, on the way back to Baker-Jackson North to get some paperwork. Took it to Lone Star Glass on Bissonnet, less than a mile from where I work. They came to my parking lot the next day (or maybe it was the same day, can't remember) and replaced it with PPG, the factory glass, with lifetime warranty for about $220ish. I'm happy. Recommended by me.

Call your insurance company first.
