Saturday, I preordered my 350Z. I got it in super black, track package, charcoal interior, with all of the options except for the aluminum kick plate (didn't see any use for it). Can't wait till it arrives.

Thats what I thought as well. But I went to Stevens Creek Nissan and a rep said I could still pre-order this pass Saturday.

Technically, shouldn't I be able to order how I want my Z at any point if I don't want the ones they have available on the lot?

 

I like the Burnt Orange seats with the black. I like those Alu kick plates too.

 

Technically, yours won't be one of the pre-orders. If what we have been hearing is correct, the dealer will be able to charge you whatever he wants for the car. Did you nail him down on a price? Make sure he and the sales manager sign the order sheet so they can't gouge you when the car arrives. Also, since it won't be a preorder, it may be a long time before you get it.

 

The dealer told me that the car would arrive in August or September. The price with tax and stuff was $38,665. And yeah, the dealer's name is on the order sheet.

 

August or September??? Me thinks someone is dreamin' here. IMHO

I would be very skeptical of the info told to you by your dealer. There are many on here who know as much or more than most dealers. There are also many thousands of cars to be made before yours...cars that Nissan has estimated delivery between late August and December. I'm not saying that you absolutely won't, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

 

No, I'm not dreaming, I'm just going by the info I was given. Maybe you're right, It may not come until then. But I talked to two different dealers, and they both said late August or September. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

 

I would love to think that will happen for you that soon, no one here feels any ill will towards another Z owner who might get their car before they do. I ordered on 1/16/02 and have effectively been told NOT to expect it in Aug although my order form states ... build 6/02 and deliver 08/02. Good Luck

You may want to ask him when YOUR Z will be delivered. He may be referring to the first few Z's that belong to pre-orders. Just a suggestion. Also a good bait to get folks in and order the Z, Who knows.

 

Yowza. Seems high for the overall price. Is that what everybody else paid for their track out the door?

You're ordering the exact same config I would want.

 

Mine's $38,632 (tax and title included) and that's without the Nav. I got kickplates, splashguards, mats, airbags. That price includes the HUGE ripoff "dealer prep" of $795.00 though. I tried like hell to have them get rid of it but they absolutely would not budge on it.

 

Who did you talk to over there? The people I talked to said that they couldn't help me, but that I should check back when they come in.
