Damn Dude that is TERRIBLE. Glad you are alive though. The car can be replaced, but not your life...

Why is there skepticism about whether the accident took place? It's not like he was bragging, Hey, I was racing this guy in the rain and I totally whupped his *** but then I crashed. Why would he make it up? Why invoke such bad karma upon oneself?

Glad you're relatively ok, and good luck with your recovery (healthwise and carwise).

I totalled a '87 300 turbo a longtime ago in a somewhat similar incident. Still wear a 10 cm scar from that one. Really depressing experience, losing the Z that is, the scar just adds character.

Hopefully the insurance covers without problem and a new Z is being ordered. Good luck.

Damn, I'm sorry to hear what happened. Looking at your pictures, it doesn't look like your car is going to be totalled (unless the car has frame damage).

I find that story hard to believe. Regardless, sorry for your loss. Just doesn't sound right, the whole story. So many lose ends. You must have had a defficient machine for a car like that would not handle poorly in heavy rain at 60mph. I have a winter car 1990 euro (sadan old shity handler) and I've dodged deer in darken rain lost control and gained it back. C'mon now...what's the deal?

Have you driven our car in bad conditions? It sux! maybe i can't drive. but i am telling you the power this car has and the tires it comes with, is an accident waiting to happen. Thank god my new tires and rims are on their way. From heavy rain and even a drop of snow, my VDC is the only thing keeping me alive under 25 mph. I had trouble going thru a drive thru when we had little to no accumulation of snow here in nyc 2 weeks ago. I am on the stock Bridgestone RE40.

My old Michilen Pilot sports on the benz were much better.

And no one with a Z, should be going 60+ MPH in heavy rain and low visibility. I don't care if you are the best driver in the world, if your car loses grip completely, no traction control or VDC on earth will stop you or beat the laws of physics. I am not talking partially losing grip, i mean no traction i.e hydro-planing or icey roads. You are toast. might as well pull in your legs and take your wrists off the steering wheel cuz you are about to hit something.

I am glad you are ok og_silver_350z. Find yourself a good mechanic that will make sure the car is a total insurance loss. Pay them a lil extra to inspect it real good!

And i would recommend in the future that your first mod be tires! A lot of people think Traction control is the best solution. It's not. It's 1st, having good judgement & knowing when to drive or decide its better to stay in/public tranportation. 2nd its your tires. Ask any real driver with driving experience. Tires are critical for performance and safety.

from the looks of those pics, i can't see how thats not a totalled insurance claim. If they replace all the necessary parts with nissan parts then this is well beyond a total loss.

keep us informed on how you are doing and what you end up doing with the car situation.

Glad to see you're OK, and not to sound too cliche, that is what's important. That is a nasty gash, pretty sure you'll have a nice scar and hopefully you won't go bald.

Not sure if it is, but hopefully that car is history. I certainly wouldn't want it back after repairs! I also wouldn't know how to make sure it's a total loss, buit see if you can make that happen and get a new one. Let us know.

Did you find out if the insurance company considered it 'totaled'?

I think you must have hit something on the road.

Especially if you were only goin 50-60. I personally think at those speeds you should have been ok.

I have 10 yrs driving exp in snow and 3 yrs in rain. I usually drive about 40-50 on a pure pure downpour.

S*&t happends. Sorry to hear that.

Unhappy sorry to ear that

sorry to ear about your 350z getting busted like that maybe your just getting too carried away that you got a Z, if you only drive a little bit slower and take control of your car you will get to the point were you say to your self "I got a z and i am one of the lucky people to have it" so take care and drive safe.

[i]moral of the story........just dont drive in the rain at night....not worth it.....you never know what will happen when its raining.....not just your own fault but incompetent other people [/B]
This may be the moral to you, but hardly the moral to the story. Don't drive in the rain at night...you're kidding, right?

I figured so. I know it is easy to loose grip on slick surface but with VCD and decent tires you should be ok.

It has happend to me on several ocassions in Utah. But that is on black ice.

However I never had the problem with rain. But if you actually hit something that can initiate a slide. Game Over!
