Although this topic has been discussed, lets get an update for all. I have had many people asking.

If you have a 6 Speed and have changed your transmission oil, please check what you did?

1) Used Nissan 75W-85 Oil
2) Used GL4 75W-90 Oil (Amsoil or Royal Purple)
3) Used a mix of Redline MTL (70W-80) and MT90 (75W-90)
4) Used straight MT90 (75W-90)
5) Used a different brand and weight combination

I don't know about you guys but I would never put used oil in my transmission. LOL !!!!

 

What are you referring to ? Used Oil? I did not understand?

 

Redline is a very good oil as is Royal P, Motul ect. but I can't justify 9/10 bucks a quart for oil [redline] when Royal P. is 2/3 bucks cheaper. Yes I use redline in the tranny/diff. but not in my engine.

 

Yes I too used it in the transmission. That is what this thread was about. I just didn't understand why the previous post said that Redline was used oil?

PS. I use Mobil 1 oil in the engine.

 

Just in the tranny/diff, I won't pay 10 bucks a quart for their engine oil, thats all I was saying.

 

I hear so many things on this subject. I hear good things about royal purple. I def want to upgrade the fluid on my Z. But is it really better? I see that on the polls more people use the regular oil. Is this because it is the best thing for ur tranny or they are just afraid of using anything else????

 

when are we supposed to get the first oil change? I mean, how long is the break-in period anyway? 1000 miles.

 

Used Amsoil in diff and tranny. Since the change I have not experienced a hint of gear grind, not once. Needless to say, I couldn't be happier.
