Is there a General Hate towards Teenages who own Zs?
At the tender age of 19 I've had the luxury of owning 3 cars
They are:
'01 Lexus IS300
'04 Corvette
'03 350Z
The vehicles my father bought for me, were not just for the hell of it. I've had to maintain at least a 3.5 G.P.A in both High School and College.
For you older people out there, had you/your parents saved money appropriate they could have easily bought you a nice car. I've been saving 100 dollars of every check I received while working, and have built up a nice cache of money.
Moral of the Story: Money saved, is money that can buy a Z.

reading the comments from the kids takes me back. i kinda sorta had a similar world view when i was that age. (ie "stupid oldtimers")
i however have paid for every car i've ever owned. i wouldnt have it any other way. if i could go back and get a sweet z (whatever was hot back in 98-99) for free from my daddy i would not take it. i've always wanted to make my own money and have my own things since my first part time job at 13. i've never understood kids being comfortable being spoiled like that.
i wonder if the kids getting these cars for free even have a concept of how much money ~$30k is. (how many hours are worked to make that money)
if you're name is on your title and you dont live at daddys house- CLAP YOUR HANDS!

At the tender age of 19, I've had 3 nice cars given to me in return for something that 90% of the rest of the kids do out of simple expectation because student is their occupation.
For you older people out there, I don't know you from Adam, but I'm going to make the blatant assumption that you grew up with poor parents who didn't manage their money, and that you don't properly manage your money or you could have had nice cars growing up and you wouldn't be so defensive toward us young spoiled kids who think because we get good grades we "work" for our cars, we didn't just get them "for the hell of it".
Moral of story: I've saved my 100 dollars a month, but mom and dad have bought me all of my cars, so I really have no idea what "money saved" is worth because I'm not spending it.

I'm not "picking on you", and I really could care less if you drive a Yugo or a Ferrari. Your viewpoint of the world is typical of a tender 19 year old. You think your s**t don't stink because you have well-to-do parents who feed/clothe/shelter/care for/buy cars for you so you can save your $100/month. It has nothing to do with the cars you've driven.

Within the past two years I've really thrown my *** down and worked to save the cash. I drive my Z like it's worth something; it's not a toy, and if I crack it up, I don't have the luxury of having mommy or daddy throw out another check to get me a new one.
It would be safe to assume that *I* have a bit of resentment towards other teenagers that have 'rents that slap down $80k for a new BMW or Land Rover, hell, some kids at my school drive H2's...
I guess I'm a different case, but I'm glad I've been through rough times with my family (issues related to father being in jail for the majority of my life). I know what it's like to be at the bottom and have to work my way up... it was not handed to me.
Some may call those privilaged to be handed keys to a new Z without dropping a damn penny into the financial aspect lucky, but I simply cannot see it that way.
Rarely do I ever even deal with nasty looks from people because they usually notice that I take care of my Z - as if it were a privilage to drive it. Of course I get on her a bit every now and again, but there's a clear distinction between that and beating the hell out of her...

I am 20 years old, but I'm going to have to agree with the "oldies" on this one. The reason the older Z owners get aggravated with teens is because ya'll are the ones coming round here poppin off, talking loud about how your 16 and own a Z, and how independent you are, how mom and dad played no role in helping you. It's kind of hard to believe. I really don't care how you got your Z, I'm happy for all Z owners. This is a petty argument. Be grateful that we Z owners have such an informational website to use.

honestly, i can't hate on the age for which they got their z.am i pissed off a little, yeah. im 24 years old and just purchased my z a couple days ago and yes i did pay for it all.my father had a 'cuda when he was 18 (which i think was 340 hp) and i want to know how this makes younger kids of today more spoiled?i think the kids who drive around in new bimmers and lexus' are spoiled. im totally for people saying new drivers are inexperienced drivers though. i had my motorcycle license since i was 16, because i took the motorcycle safety foundation course but i didnt get a bike because i knew i would of been irresponsible and thinking i was the only person on the road. i attended the bmw performance driving school when they were in chicago i think 2 or 3 years ago. very valuable things they teach you w/ high performance cars like recovering from spinouts and how to maintain control of your car in slick conditions.for the people who have those z's who are young, be safe and responsilbe

The world hasn't changed THAT much since I was your age, I've just seen/done more than you and I have a different perspective on the world than you do. You should print this thread and save it. Come back and read it in about 15 years and you'll see.

I'm not envious of anyone's youth, I'm as a big a kid as you are, I just carry the responsibility of an adult at the same time. Did the Z, got the T-shirt, don't need to do it again. Just because I have an opinion doesn't mean I need prozac. If it does, you can get in the pharmacy line in front of me.

Please. Without a care in the world? I actually about to join the USAF as an officer. I hope I have an enlisted guy your age that has to take orders from me. It will be so sweet.

And just as an aside, an enlisted guy my age will obey orders out of respect for your rank, not for you. They'll still think you are a piece of crap with an attitude like that. I hope you change it. If you don't, I see a friendly fire incident in your future.
