Question The majority of 350Zs on the road are stock?

I知 usually a stickler for facts and data, but I知 willing to make an observational guess and say that less than half of the 350Zs on the road are modified. This site is for tuners, modders and custom hounds. And this group is not representative of the 350Z community in general. Agree? Disagree?

Agreed strongly. I would estimate less than 25% of 350Zs are modified.

I would have to agree on that one. I see maybe 3-5 Z's during my daily commute to and from work, and maybe 1, sometimes none, are modded at all. (from what's visible and audible of course)

I would love to mod mine but limited by 2 factors: Money (do I really wanna spend 10k so I can beat an Srt4 at the next light) and HOW (dunno anywhere I can get the stuff done anyway) I hate my z lookin like everyone else..

I bet 90% are stock! And Z's look way, way, way cooler when modded to some degree.

use that hate and learn!

its not that hard to install parts... hell most of the stuff comes with a guide that tells you how! so if you take the time, and can read... and have basic handtools, a jack(you can get one from the back of your car, but a floor jack is way better), jack stands... you can do basically any bolt on mod... that doesn req. pulling the motor.

But stock Z's look way cooler than stock RX8s. Before I got my first 350 I was also looking at RX8's. Neither were on the road yet and they seemed to both be hot new cars. I am so happy I picked the Z.

In the Z's case you can mod it for "SHOW" and you'll still have "GO" in stock form, it's fast enough for my needs... for now

I'd guess around 10% are modded and most of them have only lowering springs with stock wheels.

I guess the other question is, to what extent is does a car constitute as being "modded"? Intake, wheels, turbo, air-freshener (j/k)?

I didn't know that this site was for just tuners/modders, etc. Wouldn't it then be called Mymodded350z.com? Don't get me wrong, I would love to mod my Z, but it was an expensive enough move for me to even get the car to begin with...But I got it. 100% stock, but it's sitting in my garage and looks damn good! (03 Touring 6MT SuperBlack with Burnt Orange Interior) Since the Z is relatively new, parts are still expensive. In a couple of years those single turbos will be able to be had for 2k, not 5K. What I'm realizing more and more is that where I live in Long Island the traffic is too dense to even enjoy my Z in stock form most of the time. It may just be fast enough in stock form. further more alot of people don't want to heavily Mod their Z for warranty issues and the fact that they may not want the car for more than a few years and don't want to deal with the hassle of returning the car to stock to sell it and taking a hit on all the Mods when they sell them. Basically, everyone would love a heavily(tastefully) modded Z, but maybe they're just not addicted to modding and all the costs associated with it. I believe that in most cases it's hard to justify the cost especially on most of the mods that really give no gains. If I had money to blow I would most definitely have a TT set up on some Gunmetal Volks/Wide grippy tires with a conservative drop/ Suspension, Clutch/Flywheel, BBk, and a nice exhuast. That's about 20k Right there installed. Also, for me, I would like to keep My Z for 10 years because I know it will be one of the best looking cars on the road even then, however my 03 is on it's 3rd tranny right now so I'm probably going to bail when warranty is up. Doesn't make sense to Mod a car you arent keeping unless of course i trade for an 06 and then swap compatible mods? Sorry for the rant.

Agreed!! I live in a fairly small town. There are about 10 350z's total. Mine is was the only one with any mods done. All others were bone stock, no exhaust, no drop, no rims, etc. So in my case 10%, I would guess 8-12% in the USA are modified. Just a guess of course. BEN

I didn't plan on modding my car. But after joining this forum, it seemed to me like it was the "cool" thing to do. I started with a few exterior mods and eventually caught the mod bug.
