as u guys know, i am getting my Z in april..and i was wondering if i should learn stick on the Z or on a friends civic....the thing is that my friend probably wont let me drive his civic since i will be stalling a few times..ive heard rumors about the power the Z has so i was scared to learn to drive stick on the Z....anyone ever in my situation??

i learned to drive stick in my z it was a really easy car to learn in ....more power means harder to stall at low rpms

Learn in the Civic. I've driven a couple, and they are cake to drive. Vey forgiving cars. That... and you don't want to put any extra wear on the Z.

I think that the 350Z transmission - clutch is very forgiving of mistakes.

hondas are have the easiet cluthes to shift on, the Z has a higher friction point learn on a civic first, because u need practice.

In stock trim, the clutch is very forgiving in the Z, almost impossible to stall unless you give it zero throttle. If this is your first manual car expect to replace the clutch much sooner than the manufacturer recommends. Most important, enjoy your new ride!!

I learned to drive stick on the Z. For the first couple of weeks, I didnt go anywhere without spinning the tires lol... Then slowly learned, after about a month I was fine to go anywhere.

I basically learned on the Z. I had a few minor lessons on other cars but it was not bad at all. Its just funny that i learned i wasnt giving enough gas and would stall on a hill i live on.

If you can find another car do so but use the Z if you need. It just ain't that tough.

It may be putting a little more wear and tear on it but it shouldn't be that bad if you pick it up quickly. I say learn on what you plan on driving and that way as you learn to drive stick you also learn the characteristics of your car, but i learned on 82 Ford F150 and that thing was a beast so the z should be cake.

I just got my 04 z in January and never drove stick before...took couple of days but not that hard. Still stall it sometimes when I try to take off quickly....You'll be fine

do it in the civic... or at least ge the basic understanding of manual on the civic... honda/toyota clutches are super easy to learn on. with a lot of low end torque in the Z, chances are you will do a lot of peeling out and you might even do a little clutch burning. my .02

Scared to spin out? make sure you learn how to trail brake and heel-toe early so that you don't have to re-learn later :P
