What happened to our beautiful Headlights?
The 06 looks like it saw a ghost.
Since I've grown used to the amber strip on the first models, the new ones look kinda "blank" without them. The only 06 change I like is the control ***** to the air conditioner.
Anyone know how I can retrofit them?

I like the 06's better..did not like the orange stripe. glad I bought the 06. I like the small orange led's on the top side of the lights at night..the look real from teh side view. I love the new bumper.if you look at it from the front compared to the 03-05 bumper..the 06 marker lights are totally vertical and the 03-05 are angles down it..I think the 06 bumper looks wider b/c of it.
Looks is a matter of personal preference. But nobody is mentioning the awesome lighting pattern of the '06 bi-xenon. Turn the lows on in the daylight and stand 10 feet in front and you can see the dividing line between light and no light. I have never had super fog lights that give me this much night vision that extends to the side also.
Drive next to a Z's bi-xenons on a divided highway with road guards and their lights mark is obvious even with someone to the side and behind. The low beam pattern is a distict line with light below and zilch above. That line rises and falls with each bump in the road for all to see how tight the cars suspension is. Because I drive a lot of rural country roads with deer, I'd pay an extra $1000 if these lights were just an option and if they were ugly.
The bright beams seem a little brighter than I'm used to and hit the LED brake lights at night and you can read any reflector in the rear view mirror like it was a neon light. I imagine these lights will be the norm on most cars in another 5 years unless they put restrictions on them.

LOL, that's not fair since he totally modded it from the stock look.
I got fed up with this debate so I actually went into the dealership to take a good look at the new stock 2006 headlights instead of just photos. And to be honest, the first thing I thought was how horrible the turn sginal dotted cage was at the top area. If I were to upgrade to the new '06 headlights, I would do what Nitrouz did and send them to mr. zipps to take out that horrble turn singal cage and paint it black inside. That way it doesn't look like a wannabe lego area near the turn signal and the black paint will make the headlight look less of an eye on the car.
On another note, I really dislike the new '06 front reflectors on the front bumper. They look like some plastc lego part. I was really horrified.
Anyhoo, this is just my personal taste and everyone has different taste and prohbably love the new look and would change nothing about it.

the 06 headlights drew laughter from the spectators at the SF Car Show earlier this year. I overheard a few people making funny comments about them. I happen to have an '03, the headlights and taillights are much classier looking on 03s to 05s, IMSO
If we make a thread like, 'I will trade my gay looking '06 headlights with your
'03-'06 headlights for free' than people would jump on it I bet.
But what if we make thread like, 'I will upgrade your POS '06 headlights with my beautiful '03-'05' headlights for free'.... hmmmm..

How about "Anyone want to upgrade to the new 06 headlight with the lego dotted turn signal cage taken off and the inside painted black?" as a thread header? I'd line up.

Except the 06 looks more bug-eyed (larger lenses)... especially to those who got used to the Z with the originally proportioned lenses. In truth, whichever one we saw first will always be the one most of us like the best and whichever one came latest will be viewed by those who own them as being "the best" or currently most "hip."
There are negatives to both designs (more than just cosmetic). On a lighter note, there are positive things to say about both designs as well. Both designs have their good points, and that is more important to me! I previously prefered the pre-06 look, but now that I've seen what mrzipps can do, I am already in the process of picking out which ones I am going to order.
Don't you think the black housed ones would look great with a 6000k bulb?
