haha... yeah, my pos 06' bi-xenons... you've got to be kidding me... Its an upgrade people! Bi-Xenon is better for vision period versus a regular reflector HID. This is FACT. High beams are HID too on bixenon... Hit your Highs and you should have regular halogen light on the reflectors. There is no choice on design btw... look at ANY Bi-Xenon headlight (BMW, AUDI, etc...) and they all have the exact same lens. Housings differ but the round lens is the same...Easy to recognize when a car is running Xenon lights. If cosmetic comments are all you have to go by to make you feel better... then go for it. Yeah, maybe i'll convert my lights to the old school lamps that arent transparent at all for that ultra clean look?...

I like the 06 much better than the 03-05. I don't know how well the lighting is on the 03-05 but the 06 is sweet, brights will blind oncomers! The yellow stip I never cared for and I'm glad they went with the bulbs instead.

to compare the two, there are two aspects to think about:

Looks: you all know where I stand with this. I prefer the 03-05 headlights look-wise, so when I got the 06's, I had to do a custom job to be happy with them.

Performance: Having had the 03-05 headlights that came with my 05 Z, then moving on to the 06 true projectors, I must say that the light output was more than noticeable. There's an on-ramp I have to take every night from work to get home, and it's always pitch black. I always had to drive really slow to be able to see through the turn. Now it's like night and day...so much easier and safer to see.

So whatever you like, go for it. Looks are based on different tastes, but performance-wise, the 06's win hands down.

I have test driven a 2004 enthusiast Z w/ HIDs at night, as well as my own 2006 enthusiast Z w/ HIDs at night. The improvement in brightness and beam pattern from the 2004 to the 2006 is immediately noticeable, unless you have your eyes closed. And the bi-xenon function is nice because it basically takes the low-beam cutoff line and moves it about 2.25 times higher while retaining the same color output. ( I will admit there is some greenish/bluish coloration that I notice right where the low-beam cutoff would normally be, but I haven't figured out why yet).

Of course looks are open to subjective opinions....so here are mine:
1) I prefer the small orange LED sidemarker bulbs over the orange reflector strip with the standard bulb behind it. The LED bulbs light up orange but are basically white/clear when they are turned off, while the orange reflector strip is visible during the day. Also I do not see the need for a sidemarker reflector in the headlight housings when there are already reflectors in the sides of the front bumper.

2) I will admit that the dotting / stipling in the lense over the turn signals on the 2006 is kind of odd. However in a test I did yesterday afternoon where I stood about 10 feet away from the front end of the car, I could not really tell that the dots were there. I imagine that the textured lens is functional and somehow amplifies the light coming from the signal bulbs. Due to the configuration of the headlight housings where the turn signal bulb is right above the HID projector, and considering the increased light output of the 2006 projectors when compared to previous years, I would guess that the raised dots help to ensure that the light from the turn signal bulbs is not drowned out by the light from the low beams to oncoming traffic. So it might be a case of having to take the good (brighter HIDs) with the bad (tacky bubble lens texture).

3) The projector size has increased for 2006, but so has the light output. I'll bet the two are related. There are some other existing aesthetic features on this car that also serve a purpose, i.e. large fender flares to accommodate the offset of the wheels and width of wheels/tires necessary to achieve proper handling (with room to grow outward of course), dual muffler outlet to accommodate the exhaust flow from the engine, rear hatch wiper to improve rearward visibility during inclement weather, etc. If you remove these features, you also alter the functionality. So from a form vs. function standpoint, I find the larger projectors acceptable. Also in my opinion, the larger 2006 projectors seem to fill out the large headlight housings nicely, whereas to me the 2003-2005 projectors look too small for the space they are in. They look like little beady eyes.

Please don't read this as though I am insulting the 2003-2005 headlights. But these are my reasons for preferring the 2006 version.

The sharp cut-off of a true projector. That color change is highly-coveted among non-HID or non-projector owners.

I love the '06 headlights. Anyone doubting their performance needs to take a drive at night.

The color I was referring to is actually different from the cut-off color (I think). When I have my low beams on, I definitely see the blue/violet color at the cut-off line, especially against white surfaces. But the color I mentioned shows up when I have my high beams on, and it appears right around the elevation where the cut-off line for the low beams would be (if I had the low beams on). I don't know if that makes sense....but the point I am making is that there is a slight greenish tint right around where the low beam would typically end and where the high beam portion begins.

That slight gripe aside, I am very pleased with the light output. The range and beam pattern are great.

Is it really that bad? I think it looks OK. I purposely waited for the 06' because the larger projector lens gives better lighting.

Default Ninja Turtles!

I love the look and performance of my 06 bi-Xenons, but I will admit that at certain angles, the headlights have this ninja-turtle mask look to them.

I may be biased, but I think the 06 headlights look much better. Especially at night.

The Bi-xenon looks nice, while the other xenon is just gay. Bi, gay, you get it. lol

Could somebody with the '06 headlights show us some pix of the light beam at night, i.e, against the garage door or in the street (similar to the attached pix)? It'd be cool to compare it with the older one to see how different the pattern is.

The 06's win hand down imo in terms of both looks and performance. while the pre-06's looked "cool" because they were space-aged looking, i think the larger projectors give the car a bit more character. Its a cleaner look imo. And the light output is a million times better than that of the pre-06's.
