Default I wonder where they got the roof line? (Z/Porsche pic)

edit: The lengths on both cars are scaled perfectly, btw... as in both are exactly to scale.

Sorry, I still think the 350Z took a bit of the old 300ZX.

Notice it's the nearly the same roofline with the butt sticking up a little bit on the 300ZX? It's the same thing with the 350Z, it has the same roofline with the butt sticking up a bit.

And seriously, There is not much room for radical new design to the roofline of a 2 seater. What were you expecting Nissan to do? Make it blocky in the back like a 4 seater sedan?

Figures...

Wasn't the original 240z sketched by the guy who designed Porsches?

It's not just about looks... the tear-drop shape is very aerodynamic. Anyone who wants to design a car with a low drag coefficient is going to use a similar shape.

Z has much better looking back end than the Porsche, imo. The thing that really makes it work are the trianuglar shape of the tail lights. The lights continue the roof line.

I'm a huge fan of porsches, but never liked them without an obvious fixed spoiler in the rear (911 turbos, GT's etc.) or the pronounced rear-quarter panels.

Without the spoiler, the car's rear-end kinda sags too low and makes it look like a frog.

Reason number 70 million why I want my next car to be a "young" GT2. =)

I love my z.
