About the speed of 350Z
Do u guys remember the post about the first sight on road in US and a member took a few shot on the rear? he mention that the speed in 2nd and 3rd is like a C5 Convette, but how fast is C5 Convette? I'm not really into the american cars so i don't know how fast it is.......but can anyone compare it with another car? like porsche? or any other car?

I would say the safe bet would be the Boxster S. I have driven both and there is no comparison. Thrill (strait line) goes to the Vette, fun and precision goes the Boxster. I believe the 1st gear in a Vette can produce speeds in the 40’s. So to say the Z matched those speeds (Vette in 2nd & 3rd) on the word of someone driving a 240 based on past recollection is questionable. We all saw the pics and I dont think he would be going through a true 2nd to 3rd sequence in that traffic. By the way you can get the thrill out of the S, but on a closed course or at your own risk on the open road. I also drove a Z06. . . scary!!

I agree with Vandy Z, the guy who saw the Z pulled that comparison from his ***. while most of what we do he is speculate (but isnt it fun) I don't think that comparison in that situation had any merit. nissan is tring to campare the Z with the boxter, so I believe this may be a more thoughful comparison.

It will be fun to see how the Z compares once we get them out on the road. But just think about those numbers. The Z isn't the best, but just remember, alot of those cars have V8s.

Who really cares how many tenths of seconds you're faster or slower?
What really matters is that we will look a hellovalot better in our Z's... nuff said.

VandyZ,
Who is the tuner for the TT vette numbers you gave? Also, i'm will to bet 1 dollar(going to vegas sunday gotta save money) that the car in question had drag racing tires...not street.

John Lingenfelter. Nuff Said. Check it out in June Motor Trend. They first used 345/30ZR19 but kept smokin them into the 100's. The other test they used M/T E.T. Street 26x11.5-16. They ran the car vs a Boing F/A-18 Hornet and won! The one stat the Vette could not match was the 8g the jet could pull...Haha

Keep in mind, that the average F/A-18 isn't designed to win any acceleration comparisons. At least, not the 0-60, or 0-100, or even the 0-200 ones. However, there isn't a streetable car that has an afterburner, or can hit somewhere between Mach I and Mach II. Or for that, can drop tons of metallic destruction onto some sucker's head while he sits drinking coffee miles away.
The next time you take a flight, remember that the takeoff speed of a passenger plane is around 200 mph (VERY rough guess, I did ask the pilot once, but I've since forgotten) and count how long it takes to get there.
I always thought these jet/car comparos were kinda silly. Talk about apples and oranges.
And, given a choice between the two, I'd take a fully functional F/A-18 ANYTIME.

Lingenfelter makes some seroius tuner vettes. I was watching a Car and Driver program where they had 6 different tuner cars and were trying to find out which was the fastest in 4 areas. Lingenfelter smashed all of the others cars. 0-150-0 in 13 secs....jesus
