Default Is something wrong with my tranny?

I have a 2004.5 Enthusiast Roadster, with traction control but no VDC. Driving in a straight line and down-shifting usually doesn't produce any problems. But several times, when I take a turn, I have the clutch engaged and pop into 2nd or 3rd (mostly 3rd gear) at about 20 mph, the "slip" light flashes and it seems like there's no power to the wheels. Am I experiencing the infamous 2nd/3rd gear transmission problems common with the 03 and early 04's?

Does anyone else experience this? Is it just my driving technique?

Are you rev-matching when downshifting? Does the car jerk backwards when you downshift? If so, then yes, the traction control would kick in during a corner. That's normal. Downshifting like that however, is very bad for the car and tranny.

this sounds like more of a diver problem than a tranny problem.

One, it is very unusual to shift while in a curve. A very long curve yes. Not that that would cause SLIP.

When accelerating in a corner (curve), the rear tires are subject to irregularities in the roadway: dips, cracks, drainage joints. Those small surface faults will activate SLIP momentarily.

+1 on that comment, thats an easy way to lose your rear end. My slip light turns on sometimes when I'm in a corner if I hit a bump in the road.

Its not the tranny problem. Like the comments above, try NOT shifting through a curve and see what happens.

The infamous tranny problem is when your gears acutally grinds when you shift.
