Prestone Fuel System Cleaner....
Whenever Im at an auto store I see these wierd looking bottles. Some say 0-60 booster, octane booster, fuel system cleaner.
Now I went to Nissan not too long ago and they said I should get my injectors cleaned. (throught them ofcourse but thats like 100+ bucks lol and Im not dumbass)
Anyways Im asking if this Prestone Fuel System Cleaner is legit. Says to use ever 3k miles. All you do is pour it into your tank and your set.
Before I buy this stuff and use it I am askin all your people if you would recommend this stuff and if it does not damage anything in my car at all. Aka if it does more bad than good.
Thanks!

i personally don't use it since for me i feel no difference. i've used it several times on my other car. to me it's a scam.
just use good fuel aka shell, chevron etc because they also add cleaning detergents which cleans your injectors already.
so the point is....it's pointless

If you're gonna use a fuel system cleaner, check out Redline's stuff. There's is detergent based instead of solvent like others so you won't have to do an oil change right after you put in the cleaner in the system. I wouldn't do it more than once a year.

owners manual specifically says not to use any fuel additives with the Z (not that the owners manual is the bible). however I've never found any of those things to be very useful, if anything they're a short term fix to a larger problem. if you do indeed need to have your injectors cleaned, then go to a private shop, most dealer service depts are a rip off.

I use it on my 2000 maxima with over 220,000 miles. I try it once every few months and there is a noticable difference in gas mileage but it does not last for too long (maybe a couple tanks). Have never tried it on the Z as of yet. I'm a little gun shy because so many here warn against it and the manual says not to use it.

I used fuel system cleaner in my old 240sx with sr20 in it. It would seriously mess up my motor until I had run atleast two tanks through it I would get bad hesitation, and misfiring. I would never put that stuff in my Z, i might trust stuff from redline, but not from prestone. Maybe try some stuff called "seafoam," alot of guys in the 240 scene are using this and are getting excellent results. You can also take out your injectors and send them to places like RC engineering and they will proffessionally clean them for about 5-10 bucks a piece, so that will save you a bit of dough.
