Default high mileage z value

I'm looking at an 03 track model with 80k on it. What would you think its worth. Its silverstone, all stock, recent brakes and tires, all around good shape. I don't see too many high mile z's for sale so its hard to gauge the value. I checked blue book values, seems to be around 15K-18k, but I know blue book isn't always accurate.

I wouldn't buy it at all. You can find an '05 Base model Z for $20k with low mileage. 80k miles is way too much to pay $15k-$18k for IMHO.

edit: make sure you CarFax any car you're about to buy. Looks can be deceiving; the car you are looking at may have been involved in a major accident before but may have gotten fixed really well.

I've seen some, but they're usually at a repair shop.

thats alot of mileage for an 03. seems like it was his daily driver. i think you could find decent 03's going for around $21K or so with only 25-35K miles on it.

The car is worth exactly as much as you will pay for it. Exactly.

our nissan dealer used kkb trade-in/wholesale value and deduct 500$ off the top as a guideline for trades.

I wouldn't pay that much for a Z with that many miles, regardless of book value. Especially when you could get a much newer or at least lower mileage one for not much more.

That's the wrong way to look at it. High mileage Z = good deal + short block + FI = super car at a steal.

They are asking $19 for it. I'm looking to spend around 15-17, but I was thinking more around 50K miles not 80. If you were going to buy it what would you pay?
I have a 91 300zx TT also, so I know about high mileage sports cars which is why I'm worried about this one. The other thing is I'm not sure how long I'll be able to keep the car and I'm worried about resale.

Hey man if its what you can afford and you want it go for it. These 3.5L motors are known to be reliable. Like someone said earlier make sure you do a carfax and get the vin# go to your local Nissan Dealer and have them bring up the service history on the car, then make a decision.

My cousin bought his enthusiast 6mt Z last year for $17k, it had 60k miles. You should be able to get that car for a bit less than that.

I dunno what's fair but that seems high to me. I would KBB it and then subtract like $2k for the excessive mileage. Also, I dunno if you can get a used Z for < $18k or so yet.

Privately selling a high mileage car is tough...people will really low-ball you. Trading it into a dealer you still get screwed but they don't care so much about the mileage, just the condition of everything.

That may be true, but comparing a base model with a track model doesn't jive very well.
I think $15 or $16K would be a good deal, 80K miles or not.
