03 touring exhaust question
Was there any difference in exhaust between the different models offered by nissan? I own a 03 touring and was wondering how to tell if its original exhaust. If it is original is it worth spending 800 + on a catback exhaust system ? Or should i look elsewhere for HP/TQ. One more question aftermarket headers worth it or not?

Hi. Welcome to MY350Z.com. I know you are extremely excited to have the car or in great anticipation of getting one. Until you own the car, you should refrain from asking any questions about modifications. If you do own the car as of now, please continue reading. You may not believe this but in the 4 years since the car was unveiled and this site was started, people have asked questions similar to yours. I know.........crazy right? Rest assured, you can be content in knowing that one of the other 63,000+ members of this site has had the same thought as you at least once and shared it with the group. How do you find these answers, one may ask. Use the SEARCH feature. I know what you are thinking now. Why would you want to search for old information when you want the most current up to date info you can get? Don't fret, my friend. Try SEARCH anyway. You'll be surprised that the question you were asking was answered just 30 minutes ago and is actually posted just 4 or 5 posts beneath your own. I know what you're thinking now. How could the question have been answered just 30 minutes ago. The answer is: BECAUSE NONE OF THE NEW PEOPLE EVEN ATTEMPT TO SEARCH EVEN ONCE.
Wow really feeling the love, I did use the search engine and found some similar but none answered exactly what i was looking for. Im sure there are some there but i put in 5 mins of searching didnt find what i wanted and put up a thread. Just b/c i dont have 5000 posts doesnt mean im a forum newb, just a 350z newb. Thanks for the advice dave but please answer the questions or atleast learn how to shorten what your trying to say. You posted a 11 line statement that could of been done in 2. You know, if I would have posted that, no one would have suggested I become a mod.

This should be saved as a template for welcoming NEWBS to the site!
All the exhausts are identical. The differences in the vehicle trim are only VDC, brakes, leather, HIDs, nav etc. You can find less expensive exhausts if you look around, get one used or get in on group buys. Just be patient and keep your eyes open.
Depends if you're spending that $800 *JUST* for hp/tq gains. A lot of people get an exhaust for more than just hp gains -- they may enjoy the looks and the new exhuast note, etc. There are a lot more ways to spend $800 and get more hp bang for your buck than an exhaust. A JWT popcharger and/or plenum spacer will net you more gains for less than half that price. I would probably do those mods first if you're looking for performance. I don't think headers do much for the Z and some make the Z *lose* hp as well. Take a look in the intake/exhaust section; there's a great sticky on top there where you can take a peek at all the different exhausts offered for our Z.
