This will all depend on the TQ curve of the engine

Has anyone heard anything yet on colors for 07. I really wanted a ZR white with blue top and frost interior. Hurricane Katrina took away my chances of getting an 05-06 so i have to wait til 07. Nervous about them possibly not bringing back this color combo. Any word?
according to nissannews.com the new 80% redesigned engine dosnt seem too impressive, 306hp under then new SAE NET rating is around what the IS350 makes, but not a big jump for all the changes they have made.

Time for a little research.

According to Infinti the 07 G coupe which still retains the revup engine, is down to 293 HP.
If the Z could land in 320 hp range that would be a nice bump, considering it's under the new SAE standards. Given the G with the new HR engine is at 306 hp, this doesn't seem like a stretch
I could understand that Nissan wants to offer a more affordable entry level sports car. But I don't see how this is the answer. I think that the Saturn Sky looks way better than this. Something seriously must be wrong with them to even think about producing the Urge. Here's some pics I took at the New York Int'l Auto Show.

so now that they turned the compression ratio up a little, it'll be harder to make it F/I??
How much better is the new engine compared to my 06?
I really dont see a big power gain, unless it was F/I.

I don't think the answer to your second question will be known until the actual engine specs are released. A lot of hp can be gained other ways than by FI, however FI is the easiest.

Ok think about this the new GTR motor has to come from some where? If you improve the 350z/G35 engine then R&D it for two years in service. You would know that the parts and service are out there for the GTR. The block and the daul intakes are mainly for the twin turbo set up in the GTR not to make the 350z/G35 faster.

Of course it will benifit from big brother needing a stronger engine. I am just saying that there is a reason for a better engine even if it has about the same HP and TQ. It would not make sense for Nissan to redesign a engine for 10-15 more HP. When they could just redesign a single part on the curent engine to produce the same. The need has been placed by the GTR not by the 350z/G35. We just get to beneifit form the GTR's need.
So is 306 the number that was announced or did someone just throw that up in the air? I'd be looking for 330-340, (350 would be sweet, 100hp/L and just a 16% increase over the revup's power). I'm saving now

Meerly a PS I think, but what does everyone think?

that would be just a face-lift, not a redesign though.
The headlight is too busy, 3 projectors is overkill, and makes it look like a bug, and for some reason it reminds me of the Hyundai Tiburon.
The rear fenders are unproportionate too.
