Lame. By this same reasoning, you might as well skip Porsche all together and buy a Ferrari or Lamborghini. Go big or go home.

You obviously don't know much about the Cayman S' capabilities. Straight line speed isn't the only thing to look at, or the most important thing for that matter, in a car.

I don't think you can make the argument that the Cayman S is "better" just because it is more expensive. What are you trying to measure? Cars are very subjective things. What one person likes another hates. The Z is the car that makes me smile even though I could buy the Cayman if I wanted to. So in my view it is "better" for me. To others, the Cayman is better. On paper, you are not going to find $35k difference in the two.

Default 350z

When I was sitting in the Porsche, I thought "I can't believe I am being charged so much for features that are standard in the Z." When I was sitting in the Z, I thought "Wow. I can't believe I get all this amazing technology in a $35K sportscar!" It was the Z over the lusty Cayman that won my heart this past weekend.

Cool, enjoy your new Z. I don't think you could have gone wrong with either choice. They're both excellent sportscars in their own right, and in different ways.

For an everyday car, go with the Z, lose less money in the long-run. For a weekend car, I go with the Cayman, but if you are spending that much on a Cayman, go Carrera. The Cayman just looks like a Boxster with a roof, and I think this car will lose value in the long-run. If I had the money to spend on a Cayman, I get a quality used 911. Good Luck!!

Default Ride of my life

Now that the decision is made, I feel such a weight lifted from my shoulders. I never even considered the Z because I test drove a G35 coupe in 03 and hated it. Punishing ride. I have been driving a 240sx for 16 years and have looked for the past several years for a car I thought I could drive for at least 10. Amazing I am getting another Nissan- and a big brother to my little sx! I will be getting my new baby in March!

Going from a 16-year old car to a new 3250Z will be quite a change. BTW no congratulations until the keys are in your hand.

If I had waited for the '07, I would be concerned at this point.

New Engine + Delayed Release = Lots of concern about reliability

Ever Consider A Used Carrera?? I Know Used Cars Aren't Really What Some People Are Into But Hell If You Can Find A Deal On A Used Car You Will Save A Few Bucks, And Maybe Have An Even Better Car Than The Cayman Or The Z. If It Were Up To Me The Cayman Just Dosent Cut It For The Price. Everyone Here Has Very Valid Points And Its Really Going To Come Down To Your Own Personal Favorite. The One That Makes "it" Move Just A Little Bit.

Good Luck In Your Decision!!

(p.s. Get A Used Carerra Turbo!!!!)

I think i'm missing something, because I'm quite thrown off here. So why are you so accepting with the Z since I would consider the G35's ride softer if not the almost the same as the Z. The Z's ride would be even more punishing in your train of thought.

Default punishing ride

The 03 g35 coupe aparently was a "sport" model of some kind. Maybe I got a fluke. I don't know. I just hated it. The ride of the Z was terrific and nothing like my 03 experience.

Crappiest model?

A mid engine Porsche has long been a dream of many Porsche lovers --- the Cayman is a very nice car and as has been stated a better performer than the Carrera apples to apples

Vette = GM plasti trash

I autoX'd an auto C6 --- the dbw is so slow I was already approaching the braking zone when the power decided to come on --- then it was all power at once --- not the best technique for cone chasing

An auto RX8 was on hand and 99.9% of drivers made better time with the RX8 than the vette --- not only that but I was not the only person who hated the dbw setup on the GM

Stick the choices --- Cayman or Z

If you wait for the 07 youll be very happy --- more power in the Z should make it a wash numbers wise and the Z will be 35-40K cheaper
