u dont need to wear a @#$%#$^ suit. Just grab your ***** and act liek a man. Walk in like your chit dont stink and make eye contact with the first salesmen you see. When they shake your hand make it a firm(let the dude know whos boss). Remember, most of these guys need these sales to make a living so if u go in with a serious attitude they will treat you with respect. Also, if u feel like your salesmen is tryign to %$6 with you request another one. Your about to spend a lot of money so make sure your expierence is as pleasent as possible.

internet sales is the best way to start, the phone is also good. When i bought mine, i called and they said they had what i wanted. went down there, didn't have what i wanted and luckily they knew the story already that another dealer had jacked me around, so they found the one i wanted to the 'T' 400 miles away. They wouldn't ship it by truck, so i went up with the guy and drove her home from PA. It was a good experience, hope you can find something the same.

remember the a LOT of money part too

your about to give someone probably about 30k dollars, its not a gallon of milk, if your giving someone 30k for something its reasonable to expect some service

also you dont buy a car everyday, so its perfectly fine to be stubborn about what you want and how much you want to pay

Come down to Seattle if you don't find the 06 you're looking for. I know there is still a lot of them around here on the lots. I live up the street from Younker Nissan and I know they have some. They have a blue performance on the showroom floor.

For how much though? It was a bad idea to let my mom talk to the dealership across the state (auburn nissan) and I have to drive 2 hrs back just to change it to the enthusiast model. She doesnt know much about the pricing so I figure im going to kill 2 birds w/ one stone.

Get the enthusiast for LSD and TCS and haggle the invoice price which she didnt do!! Hopefully it will work.

I'll take it into consideration of making a nice first impression (they havent seen me yet, coming in in stone washed black jeans, black cotton long sleeve shirt (both banana republic) and black fancy shoes, and a sports coat). Is that too "METRO" or should i drop the coat. Let me know....

Anyways, back to the topic.

So I'm back to my town. Everytime I see Z on the street then, I go
scream " I WANT MINEEEE "
My friend and I gathered up for lunch today then, we went to dealerships
together to get some infos, quotes on remaining 06 Zs.. So here it goes.

First dealer was called "Morrey Nissan & Infiniti" in a city called Coquitlam.
I drove in with my rental car(a Hyundai Accent), and I'm 21(please do not flame me for being young) a guy glanced at me and looked away. This
did not pleased me but whatever. I went in, then asked for a sales guy.
person at the info desk was like "They are all busy, please have a seat,
salesman will be right with me" Then a guy came to me shortly, fairly old folk.
I told him that I want a 07 Z but I was wondering I could get some good deals
on 06 Zs, and I told him that I wanted blk coupe performance model(Z only
comes in performance model with a choice of GT package). He's like

"I can only give you the MSRP Price, we make deals on the day of purchase."
I go "So, you are not going to give me a quote or what-so-ever?"
"We don't have any coupe Zs in stock and I don't think we can bring more in"

I was so shocked how quick he said that, and how unuseful he was.
I automatically thought, 'He doesn't have any Zs in stock so he ain't going
to help me or think i'm serious of buying the car cuz I look young'
I didn't think he knew I had a pocket of 50k money to spend just because,
I am a young asian guy. This blew me off. So I took off without saying
proper byes and moved on to next one.

Pitt Meadow Nissan, Relatively nice, but basically the same thing and he added 'When we brought our last 06 Z in, the person who brought it said
"you've got the last Z hanging around in BC(my province)' I called BS!

Lastly, ANOTHER Morrey Nissan in Lougheed. Closed, but last guy to leave
said "we only have couple in the lot but we can bring more in, I'm sure.
give me a call tomorrow at 12, we can talk then"

Well, THAT DIDN'T GO SO WELL after spending entire afternoon trying to
get some info or quotes. SO far I've got no quotes but the MSRP - -..

Thanks for reading long read, but I need some advice on how to act, or talk
when going into dealership to buy the car. I'm not so pleased that people
at dealership didn't treat me so well cuz I'm young kid drove in with rented
Hyundai, which pisses me off to the hell.
One thing I know now though, they can lie with smiles on their faces.
I won't be tricked next time I make a trip to dealership.

Give me lots of replies please!!

PS - No, my parents didn't give me the money, but they taught me to save as I was in kindergarden. Please no "go home kid" "you dont' deserve the car"
replies
Buy a plane ticket to Palm Springs and I will get you a Track Model Z in Black for invoice plus fees ---- those dealerships sound weak

I bought mine in an hour and I am 26 --- Dont let them hold you back --- I sell cars everyday to people who can barely afford to drive a car let alone a new one --- your more than capable and you cant even get a straight answer....sad state of affairs at those dealerships

I would rather he just be honest

"Hi I am X, I have cash and I want a Z today"

At that point I would jump through burning rings of fire to sell him a Z as fast as possible to get another sale .....even if I didnt make money on the sale its another unit on the board towards the end of month bonus money

No suit, no BS no lies --- just an honest conversation is all that is needed --- yes you will come across some idiot sales guys who barely graduated high school but thats easy to weed out --- find the sales desk with the manager and ask for the best sales guy they have --- he doesnt want to waste time, he has other things to do so the sale will be straight forward --- I would offer 500 over invoice and stick to your guns --- maybe they go 6-700 over and at leat they made an offer close to yours --- either way they wont pull the "sticker price is the best we can do" BS unless demand is so high they arent BS you

You should have fun with it, keep checking out the dealerships around you until you do find a salesman that treats you right and doesn't judge based off your appearance. The best situation, you go in, see one salesman blatantly blow you off, another one come and treat you like gold, and then the look on the first salesmans face when he sees you in Finance.

Heres hows how my story went: I walked into my local dealership at the rightfold age of 17, explained to the font desk I had some questions about the 2006s (about to come out at that time) and I knew I wanted one, I just needed to see what payments would look like so I could get a job to accomodate them. They set me up with thier "Z specialist" who almost right off the bat admitted I'd probably know more about the Z than her (she wasn't really a Z specialist). I explained I already knew I wanted the car, I just needed to know what to do to get it. She set me up with a Sales Manager. I sat down with him, we talked payments, (ball park, there really is no point in seeing cement details until the day you buy). 30 minutes later after we had some casual discussion about cars in general and my plan to work just so I can buy my Z, he offered me a job on the sales floor. The only stipulation, I had to come back in a week, after my 18th birthday : ) Bottom line, I've been working here since then to get my Z.

Heres the scoop I am a salesman at a dealer in Ontario. The problem is you get lots of young guys who will come in and completely waist your time. I am young so I understand where people come from when they don't feel like they got treated properly. He was right though there are barely any 2006 Zs left in Ontario anyway. Also Nissan Canada has not offered any thing in terms of incentive to clear out remaining cars because its not an issue. At my dealer we have 1 of 3 GTs in Ontario so if someone came in expecting that I'll drop my droors on a car that can't be replaced they would be wrong. If you are serious about a Z you have to act serious. If a young guy came in with a bunch of friends I don't think he is taking the situation seriously. I may be wrong but more times then not I'll be right. If you are serious go in by yourself and ask to talk numbers first because you want to make sure you can afford it. Then once you have gone through the numbers confirm that it is within your budget. Let him knoow you have already confirmed insurance is also within your budget. I think you'll find you get treated with more respect. I have been burned so many times by taking young guys seriously even guys older then me I'm 23. Also by saying your interested in a 2007 he is thinking your aren't buying a car till the spring.

I hope this advice helps. I wouldn't act so suprised that you got treated the way you did. I don't know how close to Jonker Nissan but I went to school with the owners son. Tell them Chris from Barrie Nissan sent you.

update [9-8-06]

I just came back from the dealer to close the transaction.
All I have to say, is that the financiers don't like to deal w/ people who don't have money or make very little to keep up with the monthly payment.

You first have to size yourself up before heading to the dealer so you can expect on how to be treated. I think thats why most people are telling you to dress casually or semi-casual. Look at it this way. If you were a dealer and a man shows up in his underwear but he has a briefcase full of cash, im pretty sure every salesman would fight to do business with him. but if you see a kid with a suit on, his parents are either rich, he has a decent job, or hes pretending to be rich but not (me basically).

The financier kept flirting w/ my aunt and hopefully he find the best interest rate for me. Im an E-3 w/ over 2yrs and the payments are almost half my paycheck for month.

.
What you relly mean is they don't really want to waste time on "clients" tht aren't qualified buyers.

Like Chris said above, you might misjudge and miss a sale once in a while, but that is more than offset by the large number of times when you would have just wasted youir time.

Sales people (in any industry) get very good a sizing up potential buyers, and sorting out the real possibilities. If they don't, they can't be successful in the sales business.

A real good salesman should be able to work EVERY deal that comes to them.
