Default Need a 7th gear?

On my commute to work I like to cruise around 75-80mph. At that point the RPMs are approaching 3grand. I feel like I need to shift into 7th but its not there...lol. Just curious to know if anyone else feels this?

All the time... when merging onto the interstate or hov lanes I sometimes shift out of 6th and try to put it in 7th. But, I'm also doing 100MPH at the time.

good thing they didn't put reverse where 7th would be...

go lower than 3000 at 80mph and you might not have a real easy time getting up hills. gotta have some power behind it. I think the change wouldnt be a 7th gear tho, but seperate 5th and 6th from the others. they mad the gap between 4th and 6th pretty damn small, and then shoved 5th in there for reasons Im not sure of. they could have raised both 5th and 6th a bit. performance wouldnt have been affected really since 5th and 6th gears are speeds over 115mph, which the Z would be hard pressed to do on any racing track of any kind.

When approaching the freeway, I shift from 4 to 6 skipping the 5th gear.

I always wonder if it would be possible to accidently shift from 4th to reverse by accident.

I can't say for sure yet on the Z, but most cars have a reverse lock out. If you're going fast enough (like 10 mph) you can't get the car to go into reverse. A way to help those many idiots out on the road who don't pay attention to where they're shifting.

You'd have to be pressing down on the gearshift **** pretty hard to do that. It's not gonna go into reverse anyway.

3000rpms at 80mph is nice and low for a V6 powered car.

Ever been in a civic si @ 80??? Those things are around 4 grand in 5th gear.

Even my Maxima in 5th @80 was around 3500.

Well, that's not completely accurate. The Z can most definitely hit speeds of 115 on many tracks.

A C5 Vette probably makes more torque @ 1800 rpms than the Z makes @ 3000. And 6th gear on LS1s is a REALLY REALLY tall gear...I did the math one time and redline in 6th is around 240mph....

It is kinda weird switching between a 4200+lb SUV With 150hp and 180 Tq and the Z
