Default Problems with my Front Wiper!

So everyone's talking about the rear wiper... Well, I've got trouble with my front wiper. Unfortunately I don't think I can get away with removing the front one!

So it seems like the right wiper (when facing the car) is off its gear counter-clockwise so when the wiper is at rest, its pretty much "under" the left wiper, doesn't wipe all the way to the right, and scratches the hood when i need to pull the wiper up off the windshield to clean the glass underneath. Anyone out there know how to fix this? I'm assuming all I need to do is pull the cap off (from where the wiper attaches to the car) and somehow twist it so its in the right gear.. But how do I do this? any information you guys can add?

Thanks!

hey, carefully pop the cap off where you described.then very easily ilft wiper (on each side of where attaching nut goes) .then just re-position it where it goes(can tell when is not tucked under hood any longer). tighten nut back down and replace cap. if it goes outta whack again u may have to buy new wiper arm. there are little grooves that act as teeth to grip the wiper output shaft, theyll actually kinda strip and itll eventually stop working.

Okay, so I popped the cap off pretty easily.. took off the nut so the thread is bare.. and now cannot pull up on the wiper to reposition it. I tried pulling up on it pretty hard with my bare hands and cannot get it to budge. Do I need to use a crow bar or something? It doesn't seem like it should be this hard. I will try to post some pictures after I get some food..

Just be patient and if neccessary gently pry it. It HAS to come off, Its just a little tight. Also keep in mind that it is spring loaded so you have to make sure its not "cocked" when u take it off or put it on, that will make it more difficult

thanks E***zzzzy! by cocked, you mean the threads are off? Like when you're trying to screw on a peanut butter jar lid and the threads are off, so it won't screw down all the way? I'll watch out for that.. and spring loaded? like it should pop right out without prying? hmm... I'll try working it a little more..

Thanks again!

No --when I say cocked I mean it is not going on, or comeing off square and is binding. Your wiper arm is spring loaded so when it is in the installed position it will have pressure on the wiper blade in order to get a good "sweep"
Sometimes when you remove them they bind. I overcome that by grasping the arm at the pivot point and pressing my thumb down on the area where the nut goes and kind of wiggle it as Im prying up on it.

BTW--I think the Z has a taper fit as opposed to a splinded fit

Default r. wiper

if you lift on the longer piece of the arm where it connects to (hinge area) other smaller piece of the arm (attaching nut area) to where the arm becomes straight up in the air to take tension off attaching end. work with it and dont try over-powering it. it'll come off.
