I have only run my DR's on about 10 passes, but so far I have had the best results at 18 lbs. Anything above that I have lost traction even after heating them up. They will hook up better after I get a few more runs on them.

 

Like others just mentioned, I'd suggest dropping tire pressure to 16-20lbs. Start at 19-20 and drop a psi each run till you feel it hooking up. Nittos should be well heated from what I've heard so a nice burnout is a must. Maybe try 2nd gear burnouts if you have a strong enough clutch.

RPM wise I'd say the higher the better. I launch at 6500-7k on mine, but i'm running ET Streets. Start around 4k and up it by 500rpms each time and you can guage it from there. Generally the lower tire pressure you run the higher launch rpm you'll need to keep it from bogging.

 

You can snap the stock axle with DR's even staying NA?

 

I'm sure it's possible - maybe with some bad wheel hop. Luckily I don't get any with the ET Streets and solid dif bushings. I've had many 6500-7000rpm launches ranging from 10.5 to 16psi of tire pressure and *crosses fingers* haven't broken anything yet. Others may have had different experiences though.

I think sfarrah's set up is great, but i know myself and i know that it wouldnt be enough. It's fast and awesome for the track...until i'm cruising on the freeway and get smoked by a vette or a cobra....thats where nitrous comes in
