I dunno thats what my uncle told me! You get the initial discount at a % rate(whatever it maybe for A-D) then a rebate discount check that comes a month after and thast what Im talking about, the rebate check (amount depends on dealership). But if you know more then Im probably wrong since I dont work at nissan.

Just found this article on Ward's website about the HR engine. http://wardsauto.com/ar/nissan_redesign_vq/index.html
It states that the cars being outfitted with the HR are all 1s faster 0-60 and 10% more fuel efficient than their predecessors. It also says that 80% of the parts in the engine have changed from the DE.

"Both engines accelerate the vehicles in which they are fitted from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) one second quicker than their predecessors. Hayakawa says the engine is best in class for acceleration but not fuel economy, where the direct-injection gasoline 3.5L DOHC V-6 for the Lexus IS350 is slightly better."

Dunno how that could hold up with the Z, but that would be grrrrreat

Yeah, I'm sure it won't be a full second improvement in the Z. A full second is a pretty bold statement... hopefully it points to the engine being significantly better in the acceleration department. What I get from it is that the ole butt dyno should definitely feel the difference.

I got an email 2 days ago from a dealer I'd rather work with saying that the 07 Z brochures showed up. So if you want something to hold in your hand and flip through while you're on the pot, you might want to swing by your nearest dealership and scoop one up. He also said that if you go to the nissanusa website and order a brochure, that they would be sending out the 07 Z brochures at this point in time. They were instructed to discard the 06 materials! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... Ho Ho Ho.

Yeah, sounds like a long-shot based on engine improvement alone. However, I though I read somewhere that the 07 G has a different differential ratio than the 06, which contributed to the increased 0-60 times. Seems like if they raised the redline, they might be able to use lower gearing to help acceleration.

As far as I know, this is all rumor... unless someone can confirm or deny the change in gearing...

I hope not. I'm counting on getting more mph out of 2nd gear for autocross so I can keep up with the RX-8's.

Well, it's official. I am parking the 06 GT until I know more about the 07. I'd hate to get any dings/scratches or put more miles on it when I might be trading it in or selling it outright. If the 07 comes in under 5-sec 0-60 and 13.2-13.5 in the 1/4 I'll be making the swap.

I'll just have to drive the M3 for a while...

It'd be nice to sell the 06 now so I can start putting money into savings instead of making car payments... Hmmm... Not suew when I would pull the trigger on an 07. The first years on an 80% new engine are bound to have some issues. I think the new HR will be a "proper" performance engine.

But if the 07 is not significantly faster, I won't bother. I wonder how much $$ I'll lose on the 06 GT

I _so_ wish Nissan was more up-front about new models. When I bought the 06 Z in May, there was NO mention of a new engine coming in 07. That almost pisses me off enough to forget Nissan altogether and just get an e46 M3. BMW buyers have the advantage of knowing about new models YEARS ahead of their actual release so they can make an educated decision on their purchase. We have known about the v-8 M3 planned for 2007/8 since 2003!!! I feel decieved rather than backed by Nissan. NNA are not very good to their customers in this respect.

We're almost there

I am noticing they have the national sales event sprayed all over their website. The last gasp for the 06 must be upon us. Be strange for a new model car to come out in the actual model year

So can you get us a copy of the brochure and scan it?

I got tommorow off and have absolutely nothing to do whatsoever, so I'ma drive 30 mins to meet this guy I've been exchanging emails with and grab that brochure he's talking about. If he's got just one, I'm still gonna take it. So yeah, expect pics tommorow sometime in the evening.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) revised A warning light and an audible tone indicate low tire pressure. The system no longer reports specific tire pressure readings or front/rear tire location.

I find it hard to believe that Nissan would put that hood on all the 07 Z's. Are they _that_ stupid? I think that hood is for a s/c model. I think the new engine will clear the normal hood. Even if the new engine is .33" taller, the new intake plenum could be lower in profile since the air comes in from the sides instead of the back.

you should like this one, its the big block blown 700Z made in partnership with AMC. I'm going to get the option for the big scoop not pictured, and jam at least 4 pop chargers out of the front.

What hold up? They've said for 6 months that its comin out in January. Its not January yet so I don't see a 'hold up'. I imagine their getting packed up and ready to ship for Jan-Feb Delivery. Now if we don't see one by Feb.1st, then there may be an issue. I beleive they waited to release until 07 because of all the 'marketing' reasons that have been discussed here to death.
