so to clarify, the final drive thing is all located in the rear where the main drive shaft meets the to smaller shafts going to the wheels? how much is this and how hard is this to replace? why did nissan not give the Z the same as the G? is there ANY benifit with what the 07 Z has over the G?

all 07 Z has 306hp, but I guess new G coupe still use the old engine and rated at 293hp, but sedan use the new engine vq35hr 306hp.

Yes. Do a search on "Pumpkin" on here. (that is the term for the whole final drive unit) It is an Easy swap anyone can do with a couple of cheap tools, jack stands and about 3 hours of time. For the run of the car, the 5AT Z has had the 3.3 gears while the 6mt has the 3.5. This made up for the longer gears in the 5 speed over the 6 speed. By Putting a 3.5 in the 5AT you notice a big difference in accelleration.
Heres the engine pictures you should look next time!
Not really a pic of the engine but more a pic of the valve cover. Can't determine crap from that photo. Where are the some real engine pix like the ones shown for the G?
Seen that one but thanks. I was hopin the dang brochure would have some good shots, guess we'll have to wait and see.
Hot Carling Academy graduate!
LOL, right on. Yeah that brochure leaves alot to be desired. If you have an 06 brochure, compare the two... the guys that make these brochures for Nissan need to be fired.

thats a good question, why didn't nissan use the better gearing, specialy considering the increased rev range and power? My guess is they didn't want to increase performance too much. They need to leave some room for improvement for the next gen. If the 07 was a sub 5 second car, people would expect 4.5-4.6 for the next gen. Probably be really hard to do at this price level, even if they use a 3.8 liter. We'll see though, I'm hoping the 07 IS a 5 second car And maybe low 13 quarter.
