Default Oil change???

my new Z has 2300 miles on it. When do you guys prefer to change the oil, and what type do you use. Any special advice or things I should know? does an oil light come on in the car when you need to change it? This question may sound rediculous, but many of you know whats up with the Z, a hell of alot more than the dealers do.

LOL. The recommended interval is in the owners manual.

Sorry but best motor oil is a tired subject.

Possibly the only bit of advice (outside of what has already been posted in the DIY and other threads) is to use a conventional oil (I prefer Valvoline) for that first change. Seating the piston rings properly is the primary reason and using synthetics may be counter productive for a new engine. However, after 5K, I'd definitely switch to a synthetic.

Service manual will say 3000-3750 miles...

I have had a few costomers who get their first oil change with 600 miles on it...

IMHO... I prefer to do the first oil change sooner then later on any new car...
