Lightbulb Ls1 V8 Powered 350z

WELL, I THINK IM PULLING THE VQ.... WHAT ARE YOURE IDEAS ON A BUILT LS1 V8 ENGINE WITH A T56 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION SWAPPED INTO MY 350Z. ITS A FAIRLY COMMON SWAP IN THE 180SX/DRIFT SCENE AND I HAVE A LOCAL SHOP THAT HAS DONE THE SWAP FLAWLESSLY ON A FEW 240'S AND 180'S. THE LS1 IS LIGHTER THAN THE NISSAN TITAN V8 AND HAS AN EXTREMELY EXTENSIVE AFTERMARKET. THIS CAR IS PURELY FOR MY ENJOYMENT AND I DONT WANT TO ANGER THE Z COMMUNITY OR TARNISH ITS NAME. GIVE ME YOURE THOUGHTS!!!

PS: PARTS FOR SALE

Definitely do it!! The power you can create with that motor is endless and it doesn't matter what RPM range you have the vehicle in.. When your foot goes down, that thing will move!! Good luck with that!!

LS1 and the T56 are solid but If you're going to build an LS1 just get a C5. Thats just me though, I'm not into cross breeding.

Hell yeah you should do it. Get an LS2 though if you can, its a better all around design than the LS1. The GM Performance LS2 makes 440hp out of the box.

Do it. There is no shame in being unique. Well then again, Mc Hammer said the same thing with his parachute pants and look where he ended up.

You can make damn near 450rwhp with a 5.7(346) ls1 motor with heads and cam. I have seen a mild cam and nice heads setup on a stock short block put down 476rwhp in a f-body. Bump up to a 408 and you are going to see 550 without trying.

A sports car sporting a V8 soundtrack is hardly a sleeper

I think its a waste personally ---- the VQ you have sitting in the engine bay can make well over 1000whp if you build it ---- unless your looking for more --- I would stick to the VQ

THE LSX swaps are getting more popular but havent really done much better than the tuned examples of the original powerplants ---- My friend raced a LS2 RX7 with about 425-450whp with me in the car ---- we have it on video ---- EVO pulls about 2-3 cars to 165

We were expecting an RX7 with 400+whp and tons of torque to walk the EVO but it never happened

To each his own though, btu as others have said --- why not build a C5 vette to begin with? The Z is a heavy starting point

I agree with this. Of course, no one really wants to admit how small there dick is and go out and buy a vette, not if they know whats good for em.

Thats a good number for long block and t56 tranny. Kinda makes you wonder why you would want to put in a VQ built motor. Nissan better wake up!

The Ls1 Is Known For Impressive Numbers In The Quarter Mile With No More Than A 100 Shot Of Nitrous And A Stock Motor, Easy 11 Second Territory. 600+ Hp From Bigbri's Car Turned A Nice 11 Sec Pass But Was All The Investment Really Worth It. The Vette And Camaros Arent For Me The Interior Is Just Plain Cheap Crap. And I Cant Really Argue With The Prices I Was Quoted. NOT TO MENTION MY VQ IS COMPLETLY SIEZED UP, THE PISTONS AND THE BLOCK ARE A HAPPY COUPLE SO I NEED A NEW MOTOR ANYWAY.

Do it. To the person who said you can build a vq to 1000 rwhp. Well. You could. You can also build a 4 banger to that power. Remember the AMS evo? The good thing about the ls1 is that you can make a good 800rwhp with a nicely tuned twin turbo setup, and be completely steetable, including pump gas.

And vettes are nice, but too expensive IMO. Try to find an 03 vette for 20k or less with less then 50k miles. Again. Do it and let me know how it works. I had an LS1 car, and the power potential is amazing.

It looks like his goal is a small shot on a stock LSX motor hardly a TT setup

As far as building a 1000whp 4 banger --- area under curve isnt even close

There are a few 1400whp VQ's being worked on if he is looking for raw end power the VQ will make more than enough

His motor is toast so at this point --- what is it 3000 for a built VQ or 4500 for a stock LSX motor

If he pays a little more for sleeving and pushes a TT setup to its limit even on pump I think the built VQ will fare better

As nissan develops a variable cam lobe VQ and beefs the internals for higher revs 8000+rpm it will be a very nice powerplant

While the LS small block has had 50 years of small block development the VQ has had only a little more than 12-13 I think --- As they increase the displacement and rev potential the VQ will be a formidable engine choice in the import community

As it stands its one of the larget passeger car motors the japanese OEMs are producing ---- I think a solid goal for nissan with the VQ will be 4.0L 400hp and 5-550 turbo'd for the GTR

If we were talking about just raw power then we'd all want Vipers with 1500whp for highway battles

So far though few of those exist and I dont see to many LSX motors putting down those numbers, but I tend to skim LSX mags so if someone has a link to an LSX powered street car that puts down 1500whp I would love to see it
