I do body work, and i can tell you right now the rear body of that car is pushed in,I fixed an 03 z awhile back where I replaced pretty much 2/3's of the car,and after seeing how they're built it became one of the very few cars i'd actually own,not sure how much you're deductible is but imo I'd go through insurance just cause the repairs will be costly

deductible is 500 dollars....
and it will deff. be a costly repair ....so i might as well just let the insurance take care of it.

Do it yourself, and save yourself the premiums going up on your insurance.

2 words: Aftermarket Parts.

This is your opportunity to by a carbon fiber decklid, exhaust, and bumper :-)

it is not as easy as you think....
the car has bent metal under neat the all cosmetic dameges.

i got a way ... where i can use the insurance to go stock and still keep my premium where its at.....

i'd like to go aftermarket .. if it was not for the bent metal.

Insurance will have to do

I understand. An accident is tough on the emotions and brain.

ebrake it good enough. If u leave it in gear u put a lot of stress on the gear box.
Not if you have the car in neutral, pull the EBrake, then put the car in gear. Then all the stress is on the EBrake, and only on the gear box "if necessary" (which it should not be if your EBrake works).

As for the car, ouch man. I would go through insurance unless you have LOTS of cash laying around. I can see that being really damn expensive. If your record is reasonable and your insurance company is reasonable there shouldn't be a huge rise in your premiums.

my 2cents is fixing it ur self would cost a lot of money. Painting alone would cost a lot. But ur insurance going to go sky rocket =/ go through insurance if they raise u go to another one
Stress on the gearbox? Your kidding right? Downshift puts thousands of pounds of pressure on those gears. Parking in gear hurts nothing.

OP - Looks like about $1800-2000 in damage. Maybe more. Glad you have $500 DED. If you'd had $1000^ded I'd said to go through insurance. If you had $1000 ded it would be a toss up on weather to pay for or not imo. Then it depend if you have good driver discounts etc... Did a report get filed with the police? Was there damage to the wall? Prob not .... so, my answer .... $500 Ded or less have insurance pay for it and don't trust the ebrake on the Z. It doesn't seem to hold as well as other cars I've owned. Sorry to hear about your pain. Hang in there !!!

I'd be heavily drinking about now.

I agree, get a quote first. If u put too many claims in the rates will go up. Might want to consider just paying for it.. I know it hurts ....Also try any increase your deductable.. This will save you a few bucks on your premium.. good luck.

this is my first claim to the insurance.

i've had 2 other accidents in my Mustang that were not my fault.
1. i was driving down the road and some girl was taking a left and she ran into me.
2. I was parked and walking out of school and see this girl just back up into my rear right fender.

both were not my fault so their insurances had to pay for it.

so i dont think much should raise.

OUCH!!! always use the hand brake, and ALWAYS leave in 1st gear when car is turned off. people learn in many different ways. i know i shouldn't be going 90 in a 45 zone cuz i hit a little hill and flew about 10 feet in the air before landing!!!!

i agree people do learn their lessons in many different ways.
I usually dont take my car out often but when i do i try to have fun with it.
I usually go around the twisties with 2 of my really good friends who own a 300zx TT with a lot of work done to it and a Rx-7 also with a lot of upgrades on it. We do have fun.
Oh well ... i've done a few highspeed runs on the highway late at night 152mph.

But stuff happends to people and this wall incident. Oh well stuff happends that is why their is insurance. Its fully covered. So i dont worry about it too much. First few days was very rough seeing it like that.

I would like to Thank for all for your advice to you haven given me.

Once i get it back.
Plan to get the V1 Front Lip and V1 Sides keep the rear stock
and get some Volk Sf-Challenges.
hoping to do this before summer comes.
