Anyone else have trouble filling up with gas?

ok, now i'm starting to have problems. The gas tank won't fill up all the way. When i look at the DTE meter, it says around +-250. I remember before sometimes it would actually go to +-330 miles DTE.
Is there a TSB for this? Or are the dealers aware of this problem and I can just take the car and they'll replace it?

I had the same problem where my gas gauge wasn't reading full??? I was also getting crappy gas mileage. So I took it in... they changed my sending unit in my gas tank and my fuel pump. they are actually supposed to change two sending units..but you can't get to one of mine easily. But it fixed it and I'm now getting 310 miles to the tank rather than 260 and that pushing the light. The fix from Nissan says to change both sending units. One is on the fuel pump and the other is behind the drivers seat in the compartment where the Bose sub is supposed to be.

Now that I reread the thread, I see you had a problem with your check valve. That's great. You solved your problem. That may be other people's problem. I've never had trouble filling my tank, though the gauge is overly-pessimistic so rarely reads full. My fault for not reading the whole thread carefully.

I'm also not saying the solution for my problem is the same for everyone else, it's just like i said earlier, i don't get why the majority of ppl just leave it and try all sorts of tricks to fill up instead of trying to get it repaired
I was just wondering. Is the dte reading based off of the mpg reading on your car? I average around 20mpg and after I fill it up the dte reads 320-350. Either way, I dont think its that big of a deal. A 20 gallon gas tank is huge.
okay guys....i too have this problem....i took it to the dealer and they were going to look at it.....
but they suggested that when you got to fill up, try not to wait till the 1/4 tank mark before you fill up....and that when you open up the gas cap.....wait 1min while the fumes escape...
and then you should be able to fill it all the way up.....this has work for me....i hope that helps
just passing on info

Yes, I have had the same problem a few times. You drive off thinking you are full & not out a bunch of $'s, only to find out...your only half full
Fortunately, it doesn't happen all the time. Ciao, David Lovett:04 Tour 6Spd LeMans w/ Burn't 6756 miles worth.

Just got back from filling up...
In the course of pumping approx. 14 gallons, the pump shut off 15-20 times. Tried different angles/fill speeds. Nothing helped.
Took 20 minutes instead of the 5 minutes it should have taken.
Major annoyance, especially for something so basic.

I could never get my tank to take hardly any gas. Took like 20 minutes to trickle in 1/4 tank. I didn't matter which gas station, gas pump, what angle I held the nozzle nor how much gas was in my tank before refueling. It simply would not fill without the pump clicking off continuously. I got my fuel tank replaced today and the service guy said it filled like a charm. He said it was definitely the check valve sticking inside my old tank. (My car is 2 months old.) He said they have re-designed the check valve. I guess I will see for myself when I fill it up if this fixed the problem. Anyway I was very happy with my local dealer (also considering I bought it in Dallas and my local service is in San Angelo.) They went out of their way for us. The dealer said for anyone who has not had acceptable service with their dealer regarding this problem to contact Nissan tech support. This is who he contacted about my car and they told him they would order me a new tank.

My dealer says there is no way to just change the check valve without replacing the fuel tank. The check valve is way inside the tank and there is no way to get to it from the outside. That is why I had the tank replaced.
The only problem I've had with fueling was about halfway through the process, around 7-8 gallons, the nozzle would kick off as fuel backed into the filler neck. I'd pump the next gallon or so at a slightly slower rate then crank it back up to full blast and the tank takes it all in until it's full. It's got to the point that I just know when to reduce the flow of gas and then crank it back up. Maybe there's a problem with some of the cars, but mine seems fine.
