I don't actually understand why Seibon has so much problems with replacing the hood, this is why:

Month or two ago I was thinking about buying a CF hood in the US, even asked Jim about the dimensions (needed it to estimate the shipping cost to Europe), but as the forwarding company cut the deal for me, giving me some astronomical shipping cost, so I've started digging the internet. I've found out that actually Seibon does not produce its products in the US (don't laugh -which is probably obvious for you, was not for me ), Seibon buys them in China or Taiwan probably. So I've started to dig once again, came across few factories in China which has nearly everything from Seibon's stock list - all types of hoods, doors, engine covers, you name it - not the low quality onces, but the so called "grade A" wet CF - clear coated and so on (just like Seibon's products), some of them even can produce you the same products using kevlar carbon or dry carbon (!). And now the best thing, I've negotiated the price of one Top Secret style hood down to $240 so take a wild guess, for how much Seibon would buy it - probably as low as $150 ?? maybe better.

So now comes the funny part which I don't understand - let say I've just bought a product from Seibon in the US - a hood for ~$600, it has some major flaws (doesn't really care what's wrong with it), so I've called Seibon's customer support to ask them what to do now If I were on Seibon's place in such a situation (running a company with pretty strong brand name on the market) I would just take the hood and replace it for free, yeah you can ask what to do with the crappy one - I would sell it for $300-$400 as a flawed product without warranty, still make myself even (this would probably be enough to cover all the expenses like shipping cost, customs, handling, etc) and keep the reputation among my clients

Just wanted to share a bit of my knowledge with you

just my 2 cents.

And after all this stress 150 bux sounds just silly. No offense I don't know anyone from CarbolLTD personally and am sure they are all great people but that has little to do with handling business and issues, at least thats what it seems from this and previous threads. Seibon even says there are restocking fees for ANY REASON. this kid is lucky he isn't getting shafted with restocking fees and all the other BS.

it's 600 bucks for christ sake, not 100k. he has a stock hood I'm sure. slap it on and wait it out.

I am so sick of seeing people think modding a car is smooth sailing. IT ISNT look at all the guys with blown engines, parts that break, gets in an accident, can't get it running right.... you are always gonna encounter problems. deal with it and work it out. I SO seriously doubt Carbon ltd is gonna scam anyone since his business is all about volume and he has been here a good amount of time and probably wants to continue.

if 2 months is unbearable sell your car or stop modding it. when you start doing this stuff and deal online it will always happen. until Jim says "**** you" you have a chance and a good one.

your posts are making less and less sense. you are talking as if he got the hood, and then damaged it and wanted to take it back after being used. WRONG! The hood was a damaged unit from day one. I'm pretty sure that ANY place i've ever bought something from, if your item was bad upon receipt of it, they will exchange the item IMMEDIATELY, no restocking fees, and then THEY will contact the supplier and get it returned/taken care of.

2 months, IMO, is too long for any return transaction...especially when the vendor(Seibon is who i'm referring to) that sold the item states on their website that any defects must be found within 3 days. So we get 3 days...and they get 60+? not good IMO.

Thanks for the info. Perhaps if I decide to seriously look into carbon I will do something similar.

Heh, I don't want to be an as* but actually when I get the products I've ordered, and won't be having any problems with them (it won't crack, it won't fade to fast), I'll really consider starting my own CF business here

So be patient, after I check their quality we can talk - I could always order some parts for me, and the others for my fellow my350z members, which will reduce the price for both sides I am not thinking about taking any cut for myself, just lowering the prices for my orders when buying bulk

Thats fine, there are almost 80,000 members on this board, I can't make everyone happy.

I don't understand how I'm taking the "easy" way out? I think losing $150 is a pretty big hit considering I could just wait for Seibon to do the pick-up and issue him a free replacement. I do my best to make everyone happy but obviosuly thats not possible when im getting judged by people who dont know all the details.

Hey Jim glad you guys got this matter resolved, it proves your customer service is not as bad as some made it appear to be.

Personally I think you've done right and I have a large respect for the things you are doing here, for the efford to make as much of the members satisfied with Seibon products - you are one of the most helpful vendors here, it looks like you don't want to be treated as a vendor only (who just use this forum to sell or advertise his stuff) but as a one of the members who helps/supports others.

^LOL at William Hung

I can't believe this was still going on.. but I'm glad to see it's over. Jim finally stepped up to resolve it but damn, your PMs were very suspect and I'll be damned if I would buy something from someone that would communicate with me anywhere close to what you did. That single PM was enough for me regardless of this "blame them" BS.

BTW...Mods should not delete this topic.
