She thinks it's a money pit (well with my consumption issue it is).. so I'm stock-piling for my 07.

My girlfriend is kind of into it. Actually back in early 2006 when I was considering buying the car I had talked myself out of it (because it was fiscally irresponsible), but then she talked me back into it because she knew I would enjoy it. (Turns out she was right). I make a considerable amount of money more than she does on a yearly basis, to the point where I can still save more per year than she can even after I buy $3k worth of wheels and tires, etc. So she doesn't really have grounds for holding it against me. When I was shopping around for new wheels I would actually show her some of the ones that I was considering to get her opinion, and make sure that I wasn't going after something she found totally hideous or gawdy. She would have to look at the car too every time she goes outside so I figured I would take her opinion into consideration also.

I think she gets a little upset once in a while when she wants to go out to dinner or a bar or the movies or something, and I say "I don't really want to spend money on that stuff because I just spent $3k on wheels and tires last month". To me it's my way of spending and then recuperating funds (i.e. trying to be as financially responsible as possible, while being financially irresponsible), but to her it's sacrificing social life for the want of 'toys'.

When I go out to dinner or a bar and pay the bill for $50 or whatever, in my head I'm thinking "That's half of a popcharger". And my popcharger isn't going to convert into feces or bad headaches the day after I buy it...instead I get to enjoy the popcharger day in, day out.

But I have the feeling in the next couple of years that I will be sacrificing some play money to buy a piece of expensive jewelry..... booooooo.

My wife FTW! She also has a Z and she wants to do crazy stuff to it.

The only thing is... we have to share mod money

I don't understand some women...especially the high maintenance ones. Do they realize that sometimes modding cars for guys is like clothes, shoes, and purse shopping for them??

I guess I just feel differently because I'm also a car enthusiast. I have to say that it irritates me when I hear that guys buy their girls presents every month just to "keep them happy".

As a side note, I doubt I would ever date a guy that didn't share my passion for cars or at least didn't bother me when I spent MY money on MY car.

well i'm the wife and we both put alot of time and money into our cars. We each have a z (his is a 280) so we constantly are competing with each other. we also have a 240sx so the only thing we complain about is what car gets the extra money that month. lately its been the 240 so pretty soon i'm gonna have to step up my game and go turbo.

I will always choose my Z over my girl. if she does not like it, TOUGH! I always tell her, Just dont slam my freaking car door on your way out!

I have the best wife of all. I currently own a 1994 non-turbo 300ZX. For Xmas she bought me a used TT engine and said go for it baby. That means...$6K internals mods, $4k in a new upgraded auto tranny, and about $12K in everything else I need. Lets say my license plate will say "Z06 KLR". The car will be pushing around 700rwhp when properly tuned on pumped gas. Yes, she has 38DD breast and a 21" waist. It is nice to have the world by the brass *****.

My wife will b!tch about the amount of time and money I spend modding my Z, then like 10 mins later she's all, "Take down to the garage and bend me over the hood". I'm so confused.
