its best to be in the lowest rpm while cruising at 40mph for fuel efficiency right? do you keep it in 5th or take it up to 6th? I think its around 2100 rpms in 5th, and 1600 rpms in 6th. just want some honest feedback, thanks.

 

Yes, I used 6th anything over 35 mph daily driving in nyc

 

I got to 6th alot, I just shift until it doesnt drone, or get to boomy, 2-35 is perfect.

Generally no. The Z feels sluggish at 40 MPH in 6th gear. Maybe 50 MPH in 6th cruising on the open road.

6th gear in the city? All the time. Anything over about 35mph is fine for 6th gear, so long as you aren't trying to climb hills or accelerate hard.

 

hmmm im usually in 3rd or 4th at 40mph....maybe i should try 6th to save a little gas cause the z isnt exactly a gas saver

Whenever I go 45+, I use 6th to save gas

 

i usually shift to sixth at about 55mph. as soon as the previous gear gets to above 2500rpm i shift up. i try and go between 2k rpm and 2500rpm. that way the motor isnt strained at all and you can still get 20mpg doing it that way

 

I never use higher than 4th in the city.

In the town I live in there is a strictly enforced 25mph speed limit so I generally don't go above 4th gear, but if the opportunity presents itself I use 6th gear within lower speeds in an attempt to save gas.

yeah since when do we have a sixth gear. fourth goes up to like 120 haha. yeah i use 6th all the time best to be cruising around 50 in 6th

 

I use 6th... I can float along easy on anything above 600rpm. I figure as long as Im not accelerating I'm probably using slightly more gas than when I'm idling.

 

I usually don't shift into 6th unless i'm going faster than 50mph.

 

Can you even accelerate in 6th below 2k RPMs?

I only use 6th if I'm crusing 50+ and the RPMs are near 3k. 6th brings that down to 2.5k or so.
