dude....dont let her get away with it, i really cute girl rear ended me at like 3 mph, i was gonna let her go cuz even her liscense plate to her beatle said "b-nice" or something like that, but there was a cop right there and he wrote up a report. Thank god he did to cuz basically the repair was aliltle over 650ish, plus rental car it was near 1k, so always get a report and go through insurance and dont let em screw you because in my case they were offering 350, luckily my dad wouldnt let me accept it...best of luck man

Insurance shouldn't be giving you any sh*t. It's not like you're dealing with your own company. You were sitting in a parked car which was hit by a ding-bat reversing too fast and not paying attention. You might try calling your insurance and letting them sort it out. Insurance companies have lawyers, meat-grinders, pit-bulls and such.

Here's what you should do and what should have been done in the first place. You exchange information. Don't fret over whether or not your rates are going to go up, because they wont. What you have to do, is call your insurance company and tell them that you were struck by another car. They will ask you if you want to cover it by paying your deductible or if you want her company to pay for it. Tell them, you want her company to pay for it. Then, you take the car to a body shop of your choosing. Get an estimate for a new front bumper. Submit this estimate to your insurance company, they fax it to her company. And presto. Issue resolved. Never at any point should you have to deal with her company personally. Her adjuster will bs you all about and try to come out of this with the least money spent. It's been a few days now, but it's never too late to try. You should call your insurance company today. Like... right... this... minute.

+ a million

Some douchebag hit my 04' Z just before Christmas. A$$hole in an SUV who was going around traffic by using the breakdown lane. He had to cut over to avoid hitting someone, and clipped my front bumper. I had to chase his sorrt a$$ down, then he said he didn't want to report it. Once I give him the estimate, he has his daddy call me and say I hit him. I said f this, and handed it to the insurance company. Said I want his insurance to pay it, and they can deal with it. That's why you pay them. So they can handle this nonsense. As for her, I hope someone keys the crap out of her car.

Sorry, but after having my Z hit twice (the db I mentioned above, and 3 weeks later someone hitting the opposite side while it was PARKED overnight, and then not leaving me any info) plus the fact that the rear bumper is all scratched b/c no one has any goddam respect for others property, this one touched a nerve. Luckily, I'm moving into a house in 4 weeks, and it has a garage w/ a lock on it, and my baby will be safe.

Anyway, I hope she takes it "Deliverance"-style from her insurance company!

If there is only one piece of advice I can give the entire time I'm a member of this board it would be...

ALWAYS GET A POLICE REPORT!!!

Some of you on here know me personally and know I'm a copper. I can't tell you how many people just "exchange" information only to find out their insurance companies will not do anything w/o a police report. So then the victim comes to the PD to only get told he/she needs the other party present in order to file. 90% of the time the other party is never located. Also the PD can't due a diagram of the accident beacuse they were not called to the scene.

Do I like filling out accident reports??? Hell no!

Do I recommend it everytime??? Hell Yes!

Please always get a police report. If you don't care about the damage fine but you can also get accused of hit and run. Remember, most of the time the other person is someone you have never met before.

My neighbor of all people backed into my old MAxima the one and only time it was parked on the street. It happened when I lived at home and was asleep at 6am, he tells my pops and says he'll pay cash just get qoutes. We think fine he's our neighbor no biggie.

After showing estimates that were too high for his cheap a$$ he avoids me and then moves without leaving any info.

Fast forward 2 years, living on my own shopping for either a used Z or TL, didn't know what I wanted yet. So in researching a particular TL I notice the dealer listed on the web page is none other than my old douche neighbor. I call my insurance company, give them his work address and they sent the police out their to serve him with papers stating he would lose his license should he not pay.

A week later we got our deductible check back, all without police report, just a lot of headache.

That is great advice. But... The last time I got rear ended I called police dispatch to try to get a community service officer out to make a report. The dispatcher said... "is anybody hurt?" I said "I'm not... hang on... hey bro, are you hurt? No? Nah, we're good... we just want the report to show who is at fault and stuff." He says "we don't send officers out to non-injury accidents." So does this fall under the 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' category?

Here in IL we would get sued up the *** for that! I guess it depends on local law and government policies for that state and town, but here in IL if its over 500.00 there is a report (which even a ding is 500.00+ in this day and age). If your some how under 500.00 then you still get an incident number and log for your inusrance to refer to.

Got my car back from the bodyshop. Total was right around 500 dollars for the repair took around 3 days but I had a rental from the insurance company.

Car looks great but there's still that gap between the right headlight and the bumper itself. Bodyshop owner personally told me to bring it back to him and he'll see if theres anything they can do.

Thanks all for the advice .

We don't do reports for non-injury accidents, unless there is something criminal involved (hit and run, duece, 14-6, etc).
