What? I will refrain from calling you stupid, and just say you are ill informed.

Looks like the Higher the RPM, the more power you lose. Which is why I don't understand those who do all motor builds using the Pre-revup manifold.

My friend has just broken in his 07 and on the dyno it pulls 270RWHP. So there is something wrong with your car or dyno. Every car is different. maybe that was an auto.

Hmm wow, I have tested many REV-UP MREV kits. I was a Beta Tester for Motordyne. The REV-UP does not lose power hardly at all. It gains a substantial amount of power throughout the whole rpm range. I saw maybe 2-5 hp loss right at redline if you call that a loss really compared to before.

Sorry to say that graph you showed me is the worse ever dyno I have seen of a MREV kit on a REV-UP car. Something else was wrong.

Ermm, thats not the "normal" dyno chart from spacers etc. Most I have seen show a gain in HP above 5k or so (non-revup) and maybe a slight loss below that.

What exactly is 'HR'? Sorry for my ignorance. Also, I try my best not to chirp the tires when shifting, even though it's exceedingly difficult to chirp given my 275 width R compounds.

I'm not going to read all this but my 03 rips up 06 Z's at the drags even if I run with a passenger. It sounds as if the 07 are pretty hot though. I haven't raced one yet.
My 03 had 248 rwt stock.

Not really. The 03 only has the advatage over the REV-UP off the line, once the REV-UP is going, its always in its powerband. Now if the REV-UP has the MREV kit, its all over for the 03.

The HR is still 3.5 liter? So whats the deal with that fancy 380RS engine? When will that debut?

+1 and lol at this thread... each updated motor has its advantages somewhere along the line!

I have an 04 and like the low end grunt, thats just me. My 1, 2 and 3 gear results are similar to most on here; but whats intereting now that I've switched over to 3.9FD, I can ease into 2nd and feel them spin once I hit 4k and above during hard acceleration. And these are semi-soft 295s that sit almost flat on the ground. I guess its just a combination of 295tq at the fly, higher gear set, half a tank of gas, 70' weather and the 30 series sidewalls not giving as much as 40-50 series sidewalls!?

I would prefer an 07 motor for the track though, keeping the motor above 5k most of the time FTW!

guess i'll throw my .02 in. I have had both. I had an 03 and I currently have an 06. To me they both seemed to have the same amount of power, but I liked the 06 much better. To me is was much smoother and I like the 7k redline better. The 03 was a touring, which I turned off the vdc every time i got in the car and the 06 is a base.

Now take the 03 vs the 06 with MREV + spacer and there is no comparison. The 06 rev-up with MREV + spacer had way more low and midrange than before and way more than the 03. No dynos to back it up.

From Motordynes website.

Notice the Green line. Stock + Mrev 2. Losing power over 6200rpm

Like I said, you will loose about 5 hp at the most up top on a REV-UP car. I have tested many and have a ton of experience between a 04 G35 and a 05 G35 since I have owned both. The REV-UP with the MREV kit will be the faster car. You gain so much throughout the powerband that it doesn't matter if the car looses about 5 hp up top. The Average mean is way higher with a MREV kit than without. The car will be faster.

Mine peak HP with MREV kit did 255 hp and 244 TQ.

When it comes to engine goodies I only have the 5/16th spacer. I am non-revup so the changes seem to be a bit less, but there is no loss, except maybe below 4,500 from what I can see. But that is when the power really starts to come, so its not really noticable. According to MD, you can get ~ 10whp with the 5/16th and ~ 11whp with the 3/4". I kept my factory strut bar and went with 5/16th. I haven't raced another Z with it to date (got it after I was at Englishtown).

Look at the second graph again. That's not a 5hp loss, that is 10hp lost at top end. Those little marks at the side are 5hp increments. And your losing the power from 6200rpm- 7000. I'm sure a Bolt on, Tuned Rev up is as fast, if not faster than a Mrev.

Using parts that actually help your car breath at Upper RPM means you make more power overall.

Look, you are just a new person here that has very little experience with this modification. 5hp is the norm for loss. I have dynos that show this printed. Everyone knows the MREV kit doesn't loose 10 HP up top or people wouldn't buy it.
