Ahhhhhh, that would explain why I can roast my 295s @ 0 camber in 2nd and get a looooooong burn out of 3rd with my (3.3FD-n/a setup)!!

I have no doubt in your mad shifting skills. Post a time slip here: https://my350z.com/forum/drag/233840-top-25-1-4-mile-times-for-tt-st-supercharger-nitrous-bolt-ons-stock.html

I know exactly what you mean, I had a revup for a year and then totalled, decided to go with a 04 enthusiast for lower payments, and DAMN I was shocked how much low end punch it had compared to revup. And on the highway I could NOT notice any diff. I even ran a few revups and it was tied all the way up

holy crap! i used to have a 98 civic and chirped 1-2 and sometimes 2-3. what a coincidence.

with the stock tires on my 06 i could chirp into 3rd...i think i remember doing 3-4 once getting onto the freeway, my buddy was with me but im sure he dosent remember. i think thats why the re040s only lasted 7k miles.

i went the cheap rout and got some avs es100s and cant chirp at all.

but i havent done a full throttle shift since i got those tires...

isnt chirping bad anyway? cuz ive done a 1-2 shift at close to 7000rpms and the car lurched forward into 2nd, felt like a PERFECT shift... no chirp. and have never been able to do it again either.

My 03' Performance beat every 05 and 06 I raced. By a long shot too. It felt like my car had 20 extra horses. I know this topic has been discussed quite a bit so I see everyone's opinion on why and why not. I guess the general consensus is that the 03's were lighter weight therefore better acceleration etc. The other major point is that the older motor has more torque which is obviously the more important factor in acceleration and most normal races. But you beating your friends new Z from 50-110mph is surprising. For what its worth, there are tons of people dyno'd around 235-240hp and 217-230tq and thats normal. When I dyno'd mine, it put down 266.3HP and 256.1TQ with just a pop charger and motordyne spacer. Which is pretty abnormal for a regular Z. Oh and I also can chirp into 2nd and 3rd.

Hmm.....When I race my buddies' 03-05 Z's, I get them top-end. It's dead even/driver's race down low.

The '06 might feel slower because it is more refined with more sound deadening material, the older Z's were rough, which is why it feels faster.

And the '06 weight-gain thing is all false. A few members weighed their '06's and wasn't different from the other years.

if you're talking about power then my 03 ain't got it. dynoed at 235 to the wheel with testpipes. peeling 2nd is a combo of power, tires, clutch & driver. i'm wondering if the clutch is somehow diff in 06+... that would explain it.

i can peel 2nd on the street and the strip on 275s. i'd say if i didn't peel 2nd i might pull faster times.. but don't know for sure.

i shift at my cars redline at 6600 rpm no power shifting involved whatsoever. never any different results, always spin into second and chirp into third.

hmm yea i thought for sure that my buddies 06 300hp would get me top end but i always pulled harder the faster we went. i even let him floor it first over and over just to make sure
