This is a funny thread. Maybe your friends just can't drive. As far as cars chriping the tires with a manual is no big thing, and if you are doing it all the time means you are not shifting properly. Actually if you really want to take off and get the fastest times a little clutch slippage is better for performance than what you are doing.
As far as chriping tires, my old firebird could light my tires doing 70mph down the freeway. Also could cook my 15/30 slicks at the drag strip. However, unless I wanted to warm up my tires so that they got better traction I hardly ever did it as it really just took away from performance.

no time slips but i wouldnt say its better i say its equal. If it had the same torque and the 300hp then it would be better. But just like the other guy said i always pull on the 06 but i would drive both and be just as happy. when i drove the 06 it felt slower to me but it was smoother and less harsh on the bumps

the HR is excluded from this convo!...I drove the HR and it has alllll the ***** the 287 has down low and then some on top end...so lets not bring the HR into this.
Must have seen 40 threads like this arguing this point both ways. Second only to what is the best speed for me to shift threads.
On PC gaming forums this thread would be "Will this play on my machine" It's the first thing every dill hole with a slow computer asks.

If you really want to blow your mind.. go 3/4 thru first gear and slam into 2nd.. you will SPIN the tires instead of chirping.
I think some of you are confused on what is actually happening when your tires chirp.
