Oh, I get the differences between the model years. I just don't see why anyone would say a car that has 287 HP and tops out at 150+ "loses all life" on the highway.

I'm definitely one of the "doesn't need the fastest car" crowd, but still..

chirping means nothings like ive said before its the function of the clutch put it in 3rd rev it against the rev limiter and drop teh clutch all the sudden u chirp third from a stop. You must be the best driver in the world. /sarcasm

Chirping doesnt show how much power you have unless your in 4th going 80 and you hit the gas and you burn out.

for all you morons out there if you want to chirp 5th or 6th get bald tires a heavy duty pressureplate and good clutch and just pop the clutch when u shift and it will chirp

well you would say that if you have driven all 3 cars. Driving a 287 it was great for autox great for stop and go races. Great pull. But uptop where u get passed 5k the buzzing sound and the lack of felt power is evident. Its as eveident as the revup not having the tq downlow comparibly. Now driving teh HR was the basic best of both worlds. It had the tq and teh top pull. If u look at a dyno graph moslty all vqs tend to die down uptop but the 287s curve dips rather sudden thus the losses all life term. It certinly does firt the bill.

of course all of this is null and void when going FI or modding

Ah. Well, I want to get a lot of miles out of it stock, so I'm not going to track it or dog it around.

Maybe I will test drive an 07 to see the difference.

It seems the members of this particular forum are not the brightest people. It follows its stereotype of 350z owners.

yea u will love it. It has alot less exhuast noise of the 06s and previous . Most of the noise comes from the intakes. Each gear you red line the HR you will notice constant pulling of the previous engines. Really a great engine . The most pull was noticiable in 3rd gear on a roll. In my revup i would hang for a couple of secs then she would pull on me. Really a great hybrid of technologies and just the advancement of the VQ. The sad part is that its probably going to be a one off motor ala revup. Since the 3.7 with its new lift technologies is far exceeeding what the 3.5s acheived margin wise with effienciy and power. We shall see. I must say its been a treat to see the Z progress. Im getting a revised revup motor in june with different pistons and rings then the current revup due to oil consumption so hopefully i will be able to enjoy it as i did my 05 .

depends on what u mean by fast. If its 1/4 times i would say the revup is on par if not actually a bit deficient for a 1/4 compared to the 287 due to tq. As u said. But if your definition of fast is a road race then a revup should out run ya all the time with similar drivers . Its a double sided edge with those 2 motors. Top end less usable tq downlow.Or More tq less top end usable power.

granted FI preety much negates all of this lmao

well the newer versions have the rev-up more horse but less low-end torque which would explain why you pulled ahead i bet from a high roll he would take you though

on the highway a revup should pull without a doubt stock vs stock. Hands down. If any of u wanna put money on it stock for stock im down in florida before i get my new revup engine stock 287 no mods whatsoever vs my revup lmao. I have done this countless times btw. Please vid a nice highway run with someone with a revup that knows how to drive and a 287 on a highway run both cars in 4th gear uptop. Tell me the results.

I can burn all through 1st, halfway through 2nd, and 1000rpm into 3rd and Im on 20 inch BFG KDWs. But why the hell does it matter? Who wants to burn and chirp tires anyways?
