Everyone makes fun of it because him and the car because it looks so much like a Grand Am...We have ran a couple of times and stock for stock, it's pretty much even...If he was to start modding, that would be a different story..We are both decent drivers...Just go test drive all of them and you will like the Z more...I had a 03 S2000 and the handling on it was awesome, but as everyone else has said, it has no TORQUE!
Ahh thank you. Someone who actually knows what they are talking about with experience of both cars as well.

Not sure. But the GT-R will have 3 different models and the highest and most expensive one will have weight savings. No back seat, and other items that save about 200lb off the weight per Nissan.

And to sum all this up.
If you want a straight line performance car the GTO obviously would be the best choice due to available mods and performance.
Stock vs Stock they are pretty much dead even in the 1/4 with the edge going to the GTO but not by much.
On the track, the GTO will get its butt handed to it in the turns by the Z and due to the performance the GTO won't have the power or the speed over the Z to gain ground in the straights.
I rather have a car that can do both equally as well. And the Z does that.

3750-3800lb in car weight is heavy! 400lb of TQ yes is nice but still the weight factors in. You really need to read up more. I swear the kids these days. You have NEVER OWNED a LS powered car and your talking like you know everything about them.

BTW, not at kid either. And as I wrote before, I own a Z06 right now.

I've owned a 350Z as well (60k miles of fun driving), so hardly a fanboy of any brand. I will buy what I want without petty prejudices.

The translation of the article accompanying these photos tell us that the standard GT-R will start at $57,000 and feature a 480-horsepower version of the VQHRTT. Whether or not the twin-turbo V6 is 3.7L or 3.8L large wasn't mentioned. The V-Spec GT-R, meanwhile, will start at $67,000, while the top perfroming EVO spec will begin at $94,000 and feature a 530-horsepower version of the VQHRTT engine while shedding 220 lbs. from the car's overall weight through the use of lighter seats, ceramic rotors and the like.

I might test drive the Z and the S2000. There's only 2 manual 06 GTOs left in the nation (thats what the pontiac sales manager said...selling strategy? i dont know, but im pretty sure they dont have manuals in their inventory for at least 900miles radius (checked pontiac.com GTO inventory)) and there is also no used 06 GTO for sale near by, which would cost me about 800 bucks to transfer, which i wont do. The pontiac dealer gets you the car for free since all they have to do is trade it for one of their inventory; but i dont wanna make them do hat just so i can get in the car and maybe (maybe not) go ..ehhbleh., dont like it. LOL
Here's what I have gathered so far. I live in the South Florida, where rich people live; you see every car under 50K like ants...they are everywhere. Except the 06 GTO, my MazdaSpeed6...the S2K is moderated, but around here, everyone owns a Z, but that doesnt stop me, that only goes to prove its a good car. As far as the GTO being descontinued; it was due to front panel remodeling for new airbag regulations; pontiac didnt sell much either to make the investment in the redesign worth, so they just stopped production. Although one would be sckeptical about cars that dont sell much, i can relate since I own a MazdaSpeed6 and I have rarely seen one around...i can count them with my two hands since i got it last august. I LOVE this car, it's comfortable, luxurious, AWD!, turbocharged, has 280lbs of torque, BUT, its a sedan, and I am in my years where I want something more compact.
