I have a Ls2 solor-350z i will show you what my tail light look like low 12s all day long with out drag radils ... just change the tires to larger one and put on a intake and exhaust and the goat flyes ... I have owned a z its quick and its small *** car and its not light by any means. So dont act like you Z is God i had one and it was still no match for the LS2 . every one know that. So face the facts a z will never beat a GTO unless its FI end of story and you can bet the GTO for 30k fully loaded and back seats. the Z is way under power for the money if you want a fast Z get a tt z32 and call it a day . again sorry for the typing errror..

LOL! You don't need a FI Z to beat a GTO. A few mods would beat a stock GTO with ease.
Like the forum links show, most GTO's run 13s. That is where the Z runs. You did not own a 07 Z with the new HR engine. It is a much quicker car.
Rather drive a Z, looking good, without a car falling apart all over.

Your a fool dude! Check out those links that were posted on the last page. Even guys with bolt ons, were only trapping 106-107mph and thats with the ls2.
Knowbody is acting like the Z is God, but your boasting up the GTO and putting it on some type of pedestal! Face the facts, the GTO, is the slowest performance car Cheby has. Its a 3800+lb pig (aka goat) and doesnt impress me, with the amount of power and torque it has. Let me ask you this. Can you imagine, what a 400hp n/a Z would do? Your talking about, 112mph traps easily.

From that list, the GTO wins 7-3. Problem is I can't get over the looks.

stop bench racing people, its too gay. lol. I own a MazdaSpeed 6, I raced a 350Z convertible with exhaust and bigger wheels (19/20s?) that I could see...i heard convertibles are slower and I dont know what year it was, but I killed it from a roll by 3+ lenghts, and Iam AWD. I got all cocky and about a month later I stumbled into this guy that had an 07 with an intake and I figured it would be even easier to beat (didnt know about the 306whp upgrade on the 07s), so we did a 20mph and he ripped me a new one by 2 lenghts everytime. My car is stock btw. I have raced an MR, and thats about the same lenght he put on my ***. Im guessing the GTO will put about 4-5 lenghts on me. So yes, the GTO is faster than the 07, by little at the track, but once it is rolling and it on 3 rd or + gear, it will be faster. Trapping 1 more mph isnt the easiest thing just because its one more number, the same goes with 1/4 number. Some people hit 13.6s and they "calculate/estimate" that if they add an exhaust/header/intake they can hit 13s flat, and then they go back and are frustrated because all they hit was a 13.45...sometimes it just doesnt.
I really dont know why are we still arguing to see how the Z aint that slower compared to the GTO, in aint by much, but it is enough to call it a nasty kill, believe me. On a 1/4mile race, a GTO might put a car and a half...half a car if you drive good, but once you are rolling, say you stumble upon one on the highway, it a whole different story/powerband.

:sighs:
I've driven a GTO and its definitely faster... but fun factor is what counts IMO and I just don't feel that with the GTO.
My opinion is far from bench racing

You cant determine, how fast a car is, by riding in it. Torque is very decieving as it makes the car feel faster than it actually is.

I drove it after I raced him and didn't mean its the fastest thing on the road... but its definitely no slouch.
As stated in an earlier post... I'd take the Z over a GTO any day.

Having tracked all three, i bought the Z, so how about that.
The GTO was the worst car of the three on the track (Road Atlanta). While it was a rocket in the straights, its steering was heavy and unresponsive, i was passed several times in turns and was trying to make up time in the straights
The S2000 was the best handling of the three, but its lack of torque is what killed it for me, and the small interior. Still its a very nice car. I drive i Honda Fit, so i dont have problems with hondas, and my last car was a honda prelude SI, which was the one of the best handling cars i've ever driven.
The Z was just right to me, great cornering, and power to back it up. I came in second with it, behind a TT Supra (it handled like a pig, but with 800HP, it caught up just to quick)
But this pretty much watch everyone already said

Im not too fond of the newer S2k's, I like the 2003's and older since they can rev higher, but thats just my opnion. The 2007 Z's ive heard nothing but good things about, but havent been around the GTO. test drive it and see what you like. I mean I like the S2K, small, fast and takes some skill to drive it...downside is the interior is small, and if youre into all those gadgets inside the interior, the S2k is plain as they get, but the digital guage cluster is bad ***.

To be fair you have to do stock vs stock OR modded vs modded
btw, i dont own a Z anymore nor a GTO but the LSx motors have a 10000x more potential than the Vq35.
