Default Wrecked the Z today :( *pics*

...but at least it's not totalled. On to the story. It's finally raining after about a month of nothing. I had just made a left turn on to Howard Ave. (one-way traffic) driving normally, shift to 2nd, take it up to about 35mph and shift to 3rd. That's when it happened. As I get back on the gas the rear end slides out to the right and I'm now traveling sideways, brakes locked up (wasn't thinking, it happened SO fast). I started out in the far right lane and slid sideways across the two other lanes and got t-boned inbetween the driver's door and front fender by a lady in a Chrylser Pacifica. The impact was light enough that her airbags didn't deploy, all she needs is a new bumper. My Z on the other hand didn't fair so well, but it doesn't look too bad. It could've been much worse.

Why? I LOVE these tires. Keep in mind that it hadn't rained in about a month, so now that it finally did it brought up ALOT of oil and crap that made the road very slippery. I almost ate it walking over to her car to see if she was ok.

umm i dont get accients like this....youre going straight and you shift...in the rain...then the cars rear starrts to slide in a direction (left/right)....how? youre going straight...are you that bad of a shifter?....

...jw bc one of my friends had the same story when i t was rainy out here but on the freeway and in an auto.....i still dont believe his story of hydroplaning while going straight, not pressing the brakes and just started to go in a direction til he started spinning....

Well I don't know how the roads are built in Cali, but here they're engineered to drain quickly when it rains by bowing them up in the middle. I was in the right lane. Rear tires broke traction, fronts still had traction, so the rear swings around to the right (down towards gravity) and flung the car across the road. Trust me I was pissed that it happened. Hopefully it nevers happens to you. And no I'm not a bad shifter at all.

damn bro that blows... i have constant nightmares that's gonna happen to me! in fact, it kind of did:

the same thing (kinda) happened to me a couple of weeks ago before i put my new falkens on. the stock bridgestones were worn down to the bone and it had rained... long story short i ended up "drifting"-(out of control) onto a pretty tall median when i left the movies on a weekend. when i got out of the z i thought the whole front bumper and side were all messed up given how low the car is. but miracously i didn't have any damage except for a barely noticable scratch on the rim where the tire made contact with the median. really lucky.

needless to say i'm a bit more careful now. hope you get that fixed soon man. good luck!
