I spun out on a wet ramp a couple months ago and tore up the right rear suspension. Bummer but I see you taking opportunity to count blessings...

With RWD vehicles you just can't make sudden changes that alter power to the back wheels. Slow, smooooooth, & easy is word of day when in wet/slick conditions.

Tires didn't cause this.

+1. Seems to me like this was the result of making poor decisions while driving.

Glad to hear that no one got hurt. Your baby will recover just fine. Should check out what a 18 wheelers did to my baby a few days ago.

Glad you're okay, looks like it could have been much worse.

This makes me thankful I live in sunny Southern California. *Knocks on Wood*

The door isn't closing, which isn't a good indicator, but you might be lucky though. It doesn't need to be much. I hope your Z will be okay and fixable. poor lil Z.

It's the driver in control, not the other way around. Unless there is mechanical failure or other mitigating circumstances.

Please take care out there.

what kind of accidents do you get?

It was the first rain so it was slippery and anyone who has driven a turbo car knows that all it has to do is spool a little bit to break the tires loose in wet weather. lot of armchair drivers posting here.

Looks like you might be able to get by with a front fender and a door.

Funny part is I didn't even get into boost nor did I WOT the gas when I upshifted to 3rd gear, just got back on the gas normally

I'm down in Miami, and the weather has been the same here too. The other day i was on my way home from work, same kind of situation as you (first rain in a long time). Anyways, going along about 40 mph and the rear just starts sliding. Thank god though i was on a 4 lane road with no traffic so i didn't hit anything. It happens so suddenly and it's almost impossible to regain control. Needless to say i've solwed down a lot in the wet weather now. #1 cause of accidents is driving too fast for the weather conditions though, sometimes even if you thihnk you're going slow you're actually going too fast for the conditions....be safe out there!

So the lesson here is don't drive a turbo car in bad weather, or any car for that matter if you don't know how to baby the gas! This still amazes me. I've driven mine in snow, in the mountains, with stock tires, and had zero close calls or issues. Just take you time and avoid the situation all together!!

Hopefully it won't take too long to fix! If you get in too much of a bind you can drive my Focus

Then you just got into some slippery stuff. I lost one of my GN's making a turn onto a road in the rain. All I saw was the boost gauge flicker yellow and the whole rear end came out on me. I was driving with a light foot since i knew it was a beast in the rain.

I didn't think you were at WOT or you would still be doing donuts.
