Question Drifting into the turn?

So I am slowly getting used to my new Z. The car is amazing. Very often now when I am turning ninety-degree turn I make the back come out on me so that the car straitens out right into the turn. I do it for two reasons makes the turn faster and the feeling is amazing. So I wanted to ask people of the forum if many of you do that and if so how bad is it for the tires.

Drifting does not make the turn faster and it is very very harsh on tires.

I hope this is on a track, or at least in an empty parking lot o_O

I'd hate to see a "Oh crud, I totalled my Z by drifting" topic, but I'd REALLY hate to see a "350z drifted in a school zone and tore up ten 8 year olds yesterday afternoon" news story.

In any case, drifting looks pretty good, but its VERY RARELY faster than "gripping".

But it is not really drifting I just apply a tad more power when I come into the turn and the car turns around me a little bit. Is it still very bad for my tires?

They have also indicated that my father drives the car for pleasure. Also the car is in my name and I am the one that drive it only and I drive @ 20000 miles a year.

Is there any way they can deny the coverage for me if I get into an accident?

You should buy cheap tires since you will wear your rear tires very quickly if you make a habit of turning this way.

And... you should read the "Wrecked my 350Z" threads here. Pushing the car that hard (and hopefully you are doing this on the track only and not on public streets) will eventually result in a rotation (uncontrolled spinout).

And... I "gotta" ask: Is this thread/post for real?

Yes this post is for real. And I am actually surprised to hear that other people don’t do this. It just feels easy to control the car when you are going 15MPH and end comes out a little bit. However if most of the people say that it is not safe and they don’t do it then I will stop doing it. But it feels very predictable to me.

Maybe I am being misunderstood here….

It doesn't matter if its predictable or not, you're wearing the back-end more. Worn tires = easier hydroplaning. And, from the topics already made, I'd say the back-end does NOT need extra help hydroplaning o_O. Plus, it may be predictable sometimes, but all it takes is ONE time not being predictable and you'll fly into a group of school children and mow them down! O_o.

your going in to a forum and asking about drifitng on the streets, what do you expect.

This isnt a forum of 16 year old kids who watch too many F&F movies.

When your driving around do you constantly see people drifting around corners on the way to the grocery store

Neeferea, first and foremost, clowning around, testing etc is best reserved for a safe place such as a track or an organised sanctioned situation where you have plenty of open space that's not impeeded by large heavy objects like walls, cars and so on. Keep yourself, others and your Z safe.

And if you do want to learn to drift, go to a drift school, but probably not in your 07. Drifting is very hard on all your running gear.
