Default 5000 budget

I need a little help.
I got some guys at work that keep telling me that if you have a hatch back civic and a Z, both cars have a $5000.00 buget to spend on mods, they say that the civic will win. I'm out numberd 6 to 1 and these guys have fully built evos and 240s turboed cars. I'm the only z guy here.

They say that they can get a used engine ls for like $ 500 and turbo the car and rape a z with 5 grand.

My argument is that I'll get a used turbo kit boost to 420 or to 450 to the wheels.

Do you guys think that a civic with a 5 grand budget will rape a z with a 5 grand budget?

Sorry for the spelling and punctuation I typed this in a hurry with a bunch of guys talkingchit in the background

Thanks

don't think so because the Z will still likely put more power to the wheels, quite a bit more than the civic, even the civic is a bit lighter.

The hatchback is cheap to mod thats the first thing plus its very light. The Z is very expensive to make fast that might be the downfall of you and the guys at work arguement.Either way anything is possible if you have the money and the right auto tech i got to admit i hate those little hatchback fast little ****s lol.

Take the bet and spend the money on suspension mods and such and then make the challenge be on an auto-x.

I have nitrous on my car. Even with a cheap setup you can kill a Integra Turbo easy. I never lost against any turbo'ed Honda or Acura yet.

What difference does it make?
If it is possible...so be it.
It's still a Civic, and yours is still a Z.
In the end that's all that matters.
The purpose of trying to make a Civic
faster than a Z is what?
Seriously, you're letting this get to your
head man...hell you own a Z!

Lawl ! I doubt that civic with 5 g in to it will smoke z with same buget. The only way civic could get close is if they get k20a in it and torbo it, but that would be well over 5 grand considering all install cost, adaptation and tuning.
Z with used TN(about 3k) kit plus UTEC and good tune will prolly rape it. Or a nitrous is alway cheap way to get some nice gains.
I have seen some insane fast civics but it will cost more that 5 k. One of my buddies had 93 hatch with b18 in it(vtech heads, intake, manifold, headers, exhaust cams, and some weird ingene management) and it run high 13's, with a turbo he'd get in to high 12's (some Z's with NA mods been doing that lol).

After I bought my Z I made a few new friends and they all had S13's that were fast as hell and they had probably spent about half total on their car and all mods combined to get their cars into the 400-500 HP range. However, they all still complement me on how beautiful my car is and how when we go to autocrosses I can still compete with them despite the HP difference. I focused on building my car to be a balanced machine that is fun to drive and my friends respect that. If your friends don't then they probably don't know a whole lot about cars and I wouldn't worry about what they have to say, .

Heh integras are heavy, gutted out hatch would waight about 1200 pounds and with turbo b18 or k20 it's pretty darn fast.

for 5 grand you could do drop in filter, headers, test pipes, exhaust, plenum, utec and Nitrous. then enough for a set of dr's and i dont think a civic with a 5 grand limit could be even close to that. and if it was it wouldent last for more than a couple runs probally

I dont know guys my firends are all honda lovers and they keep talkin about how if you swap a k20 engine from a rsx type S into the little hatch back those things can be very very quick so i think wat those guys are saying with 5k they can get that engine and itll be a quick little car.... but i dont know im not into hondas to much to really understand this stuff

the civic no matter what is gonna be lacking in torque. 5k to 5k I don't see a Z having any problem with it, a Z is in a completely different class. Plus the civic hatch is prolly only worth 5k to begin with, not to mention they look disgusting.

it's very possible if you're just talking about straight line racing. you can make a civic go fast for $5k. it won't come close to a z in overall performance though.

Some guy said that he can swap a type R engine in a hatchback and beat a twin turbo guy, then the evo guy said that Zs are slow..at that point I just said ok, and didnt comment anymore. It seems that everybody loves to hate on the Z.

i doubt a autox would result in a faster time for the z. weight is too much of an issue and power only helps so much.

for 5k we win

Intake/Exhaust/Headers/Test Pipes/Technosquare ECU chip.

you will win, UNLESS it's a CRX hatch and it weighs 5 pounds and has an H22 in it and runs a 13.
