The manual blips the throttle on the autos, so it does rev match to some extent and the auto downshifts just about as fast you can in a manual.
For an auto it does a good job compared to most.
I notice the biggest lag when in manual mode between 1-2, everything else seems to be pretty lag free.

I guess I should clarify that all of the pre-07 Zs I drove were used with anywhere between 20-36k miles. And the 07, was still a baby and possibly not broken in.

Good argument from a person with an auto transmission. I would find many ways of debate if i was in the same situation.
Many people will have auto and it really doesn't matter.
That Farrari tranny is so complex, it shifts fast as a manual with no delay which your Z doesn't.

As far as the Z's clutch being heavy... i don't believe it is. However the clutch pedal seems rather long when you want to get it fully depressed.
Autos do have their uses, but its for the 1/4 mile and you need a lot of beefing up from most factory autos to reap the benefits.
