Default Slipping? When turning...

When ever i turn and hit the gas hard my transmission will slip i suppose. Sounds really bad, and the slip light goes on.

Whats causing this, i might go take it back where i got it to go get fixed, but if its a problem everyone exp. then forget it.

Thanks

The slip light will come on when you loose traction.
Is tcs on or off?
What do you mean "Sounds really bad"

TCS is on.

Sounds bad, because you can hear the gears slipping. But this does not occur on a straight away.

I got all warranties on this car so I would like to ask what should i do?

usually will do this when you are applying too much gas in a curve + having your rear tires old or worn out. two things to fix this, check the tread life on your rear tires. also the other fix is get use to driving a rear wheel drive. I had a FWD that i drove to 3 years prior to the Z (but have driven RWD mainly) and the first day in the Z i took a corner and gassed it like a FWD. needless to say i never did that again. so stop hitting the gas hard in a turn. problem solved

Sounds good to me, just wondering maybe the previous owner might have screwed with the transmission by beating it. But guess not

Gears don't slip...

Sounds like a perfectly normal reaction from the TCS when too much power is applied. I bet it doesn't do it with TCS OFF? You'll probably fishtail thought...

From what your describing, it kind of sounds like wheel/suspension hop. Wheel Hop is very bad...and puts alot of stress on your suspension, but it also occurs on straight-away launches, and since you say it only occurs on turns, your tires are most likely the cause...

Nope. Manual trannies ("gears") don't slip.

If he has a base model, that wouldn't be surprising. The Nismo Locker does act different.

Nick... I am sure that you know that if you do this with TCS off in the rain or hit a patch o oil you can spin out. TCS is cutting back the power so that you don't loose traction which would bring the rear end out. The slip light coming on tells you that the TCS has intervened. You cannot overcome the laws of physics which only allow so much power to the rear wheels coming out of a corner before they loose traction and then you can swap ends of the car. The trick is to give just enough gas so that the tires are at the limit of adhesion, but not to exceed the limit. The best way to understand this is probably on a dirt track where you learn to counter steer and drift on a power on exit.

Play Gran Turismo 4, using a stock G35 coupe, no driving aids, and economy tires. If you can hit a 1'09" lap on Tsukuba, call me. This car drives like ours in real life, and the switch back has taught me valuable lessons (pitch, roll, countersteer).
If I could, I would link up a drift video. Makes me wonder if I can upload a replay to my USB and get it on photobucket or youtube.

Mat (Yes, I get my driver school from PS2)
