no where near 6,200 thats for sure.
Thats peak horsepower / torque rpm. It has nothing to do with redline.

If you know how to drive a manual then you have a huge advantage on a automatic in any car with similar hp, and torque.
The automatic transmission losses more horsepower overall in any vehicle.
If he had a 6 speed he would have definately been faster.... IF he knows how to drive it.

He prob had the TCS "ON", engine wasn't broken in, was he using slap stick at the time?, was it being redlined at each shift?

Many factors....

but what about weight?

the 04 track Z weighs 3,182lbs. how much does the 07 weigh?
The 2004 VQ35DE's redline is at 6,200 rpm (the max HP the engine produces). Also, the Track edition has the second highest curb weight out of all the other edition (3,225 lbs).

Here are the curb weights for the 2007 350Z:

3,339 lb (Base)
3,346 lb (Enth)
3,400 lb (Tour)
3,404 lb (Grand)

My guess is that he had his traction control on or he simply doesn't know how to drive. That coupled with the fact that it is an automatic. Either way, your car would not be faster then a manual 07 no matter how much you want to believe it to be true.

yeh the automatics suck to me atleast. My freinds 2006 auto loses against my 2003 touring 6spd pretty bad and we raced several times. He also has test pipes and i still get 1 car on him everytime roll or launch. But the 07s are supposbed to be alot faster i thought. There liek mid 13s and the 03-06 are high 13s low 14s. Maybe you have a factory freak haha i really think its cause its auto

hes told me hes beatin alot of other Z's. but not the track model. and i know the track model is a lot lighter than most the others.

04 track > 07 auto Z?

i have 2 runs on video, but i know i cant be posting illegal street racing on this site.

the first run i beat him pretty easily. but the second video i made a mistake and the race was alot closer. both races were also at a 1st gear roll (so around 25mph) in the second race i popped the clutch thinking i can maybe get more kick, but that was a mistake haha.

here they are
first off, how is it that people underrestimate the Z when the guy you were racing has one as well?

was his TCS on? i know on mine, if i turn it off, the car feels a lot faster, regardless if the tires are actually slipping.

race my 07.

guys with the 07s stop trash talkin about people racing you. ur car is really not that much different from ours in quater mile times. maybe by .4-.6 quater mile. assuming u got a perfect launch....... u guys dont have a 12 sec car and neither do we. ive owned 2 07s with my revup. i have bolt ons exept headers and pullies, untuned........
so please stop debating wether ur 07s, or 03s is better or faster than the other...
ps. i have seen a race between auto 07 and mn 04 and it was even race.... whoever took the jump won.

I have a 03 touring (auto) and my friend has a 06 rev-up motor and we raced plenty of times. I usually pull him until we get to about 4th then the rev-up kicks in and passes me so its not because its a auto lol. Maybe his engine is not broken in yet or something how many miles does he have on it. Another thing i dont get is why does everyone think its such a big difference in straight line performance in the auto vs the manual if you look up at the top stock times a auto is very close to the fastes times posted by manuals.

wont you race him from a roll that will help take out some variables with the start.

first of all junior, an 07 owner didn't start this thread, so wash your sandy vagina out.

secondly, who is in here talking trash? i think i can speak for 99% of Z enthusiasts when i say that we love the Z, regardless of the year.

lastly, you must come to the realization that the 07 IS INDEED faster (stock vs stock) than previous models. i am sure when the new Z comes out, it will be faster than the 07. that is just how it is.

now go take a Midol.

So do the '06-07's AUTOs have the 287hp engine or do they have the new VQs for each of their respective years?

ok and about u guys saying, "oh race my 07 Z and see what happens"

i dont think i ever stated that i can beat an 07 6spd. thats not what this thread is about. i clearly admited that it's prolly cuz its an automatic.

the thread is about me being suprised that i beat him. even though he has an automatic, he also has a 306bhp engine. so i didnt think the difference would be too different at all, but i took him pretty easily.

either way it was a close race, didnt beat him by many cars. but it seemed like the outcome was as if i raced an 03-06 auto.

the 04 track doesnt have the second highest weight.

i dont know, u may know more than nissan about the car but it clearly says in the manual its under 3,200.

what other 03-06 models are under 3,200?
