Dealer's B.S. or the TRUTH?
Hey guys. I have changed my tires at the dealership. While changing the tires they told me that car has to get an alignment with new tires and that my alignment is a little bit off. Car does not pull to the side and drives like new. So should I listen to then and do an alignment. Or is it another Dealer's B.S.
whenever someone comes into my shop for tires i always reccomend getting an alignment done. you spend a couple dollard more, but it is better than not getting maximum longevity out of the tires. a couple of tenths off on toe angle will EAT your tires.
18 months ago I had my Z aligned - the normal toe-in is -0.08º. One month ago I had it aligned again +0.24º/+0.46º. As far as I could tell, it drove and handled fine but it was causing front tire wear. Misalignment was the cause of the dreaded tire-feathering problem a few years back. Get the car aligned!

yearly alignments are a good preventative maintenance....kinda like a prostate exam, except less pain in the butt!
When they removed the old tires, they probably noticed increased wear on the inside edge....call it a hunch.

I've been getting an alignment at least once a year - keeps the feathering to a minimum on my '03. And it has nothing to do with balancing the tires either, that is two separate items which are barely connected.

Just because car drives straight it does not mean alignment is fine, i've done hundreds of alignments where customers did not complain of pulling/drifting and numbers were out of spec. A lot of times when alignment goes out it is somewhat even on all corners so they "cancel" each other out and don't cause a pull.
Which is why i try to align my car every other month...20 mins out of my Saturday= peace of mind next 2 months or till i hit a pot hole haha. I am obsessive compulsive when it comes to maintenance of my car... any car.
